Postby scottroo » Sat Aug 12, 2006 7:34 pm

The Colonel Light Gardens Foot Club defeated Lockleys by 2 goals in a high quality game at Mortlock Park, infront of the Grassroots team....

Grassroots31, what did you think of the game?

A magnificent performance

Although another 5 minutes you would have been in a slight spot of bother

If you're going to get relegated you might as well take someone down with you

Go you freakin lions

Yes thats a good result. That win has turned things upside down in that didv. Well in terms of religation. West Croyden beat Hope Valley so west croyden are probably safe, but the CLG win over lockleys means that Hope Valley and Lockleys are in the same boat. And like grassroots said, if your going to get religated, heck might as well take a few with you.

thanks stan, just a quick question to grassroots31 or anyone else, how would CLGFC fair against a team like blackfriars or saint pauls

Hard to say unless you can easily compare the two teams. Which is difficult to do. I would say that Blacks and St.Pauls wouldnt be far off the mark in div 6. So i would say and this is more of a guess than anything is that CLG might struggle against those two side. But in saying that it is difficult to compare teams in different divisions. What does the Grassroots team think?

not too sure thats why I asked for their opinion...i think it would be a good game, we are a wuick running, hard working team, with hardly any "bulky" players.

No offense to your team im only saying that because i think those two teams would be as good as the top div 6 teams or there abouts.

thats a massive call, friars struggle against the more physical sides (houghton and wingys) while saint pauls cant beat friars, i reckon a team like westminster would give these teams abit of a touch up

well after playing for central united a grade last season and playing agaisnt clg last season when they had chambers up at full forward and playing agaisnt friairs and st pauls this season i would say both these teams are better than clg.central united are undefeated on top with hardly a differnt team.no disrespect to clg but i think some of the better teams in div 7 would give a lot of the div 6 teams a run.think i might get shot down for this but played at united last season and paralowie this season so think i would have a fair idea.

Spot on Carey there is not much difference between the top teams in the lower divisions IMO. From the teams that were relegated from my div (Div 4) last year were Para Hills who were relegated only in the last game of the year by % and now sit second and Plympton who did not win a game at all to sitting midtable with a mathamatical chance of making the five next week although unlikely as they need to beat Para Hills and Golden Grove need to win over Smithfield

this year Lutheran will go down due to a vastly different team that the year before and Ingle Farm are around the mark for a finals berth next year

by the way guys, say it how you think it, its all personal opinion on here and im just looking for a guide on things, i enjoy talking about it...

we have a varstly different team to which we had last year, and chambers makes a massive difference (we'd be fighting for a finals berth if we still had him)

however we have allot of new young guys, and the development of stephen hammond has been brilliant (6 goals on sat) as a 17yo onballer

looking forward to meeting up with a few of you guys in 07, in the mean time, goodluck

chhers mate.didnt mean any disrespect to you guys at all.you were a great bunch of guys to play agaisnt.thought chambers used to control you blokes a bit to much by putting himself everywhere and anywhere.remember playing your ground last season and it poured rain.think he kicked 5 in the first quater untill we pulled our finger out and went on to win.good bunch of blokes but.

LMAO an impressive win over Lockleys? They are second bottom..

In Div 6 the top 3 (Central U, Uni & Greenacres) are a cut above the rest, with the remainder very even. carey18 and heater31 are on the money - many of the teams in the lower grades would be interchangeable.

PS. Westminster a physical side? Pffft.
Rule No. 76: No excuses, play like a champion.
