South Australian Aboriginal Sports Carnival

Postby '00'02'03'07 » Wed Sep 21, 2011 11:01 am

Just thought I would let everyone know that the annual Aboriginal Sports Carnival will be held at Kilburn oval on the long weekend. It will boast some of the best Aboriginal talent running around on the footy field that South Australia has produced.
Players that have played in the past include current and former AFL players like Byron Pickett and Graham Johncock and rumour has it this year Adelaide Crows game record holder Andrew McLeod will be pulling on the boots also due to his South Australian family connections.
Plenty of footy for those that might want to watch some live footy still.

I have enjoyed these Carnivals over the years, watching SA's Indigenous Champions. The best players are not always "Household Names" some of the talent down from the Bush are sensational. If you love your footy get down to Kilburn Oval, you won't be dissapointed. Pulyo!

Would love for it to be true but I don't think so. all I could get out of him at training was that he is just having a run to get ready for his grand final up in Queensland which was on the weekend

The great man Bunji Mac will not be playing for Raukkan or anyone (unfortunately), he'll be there as a neutral delegate with the AFL and SANFL looking at all the under age representative players for the SANFL Aboriginal Programs; he might roll out in the Over 35s game though ;)

Funny thing is if you stop one of the Love twins then the other will pop up and kick a goal just as impressive. Played with Owen a little earlier in the year in Wagga and he was in pretty good touch and I know that his twin Brother Ray has been in very good form kicking bags of goals regularly. Unfortunately wont get to watch them or play this year as have to fly out of Adelaide for work but maybe next year. Would have been awsome to play at Kilburn with alot of former and current Kilburn players in the carnival.
