SAAFL New Goalkicking Record

Postby BM » Mon Aug 21, 2006 10:20 am

Well done to Clinton Payne of Gepps Cross for breaking the 70 year old goalkicking record for most goals in a season. Clint needed 12 in the last game to beat the record and finished with a lazy 17 for a minor round total of 161 goals.

For Payney twice kicked 17 in one game. Tad unfair having Josh Mail passing the ball to Payney in Div 10b. The CHF has also kicked over 70 goals for the year.

BM, Why are these guys playing Divvy 10 reserves?
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

I have played against this team and even stood Payney for a quater (he kicked 3 or 4 cant remember) and then got moved off him to try and stop someone else. Speaking to one of these players they train on a regular basis and wont be played higher. I usually play in our clubs Div 4 Reserves and the delivery that Payney was getting was outstanding an A grade player in any division would be impressed

BM is it true that they played an internal trial against the As and lost by only a few goals?

Gepps Cross A's (& B's for that matter) have had no internal trials against the C's. Bit of a slur on the GX A Grade who missed out on the Div 2 minor premiership by percentage!

There has been invitations to the C Graders to come and train with the A's & B's but they are happy to go through the season as undefeated premiers.

Well done to Clint on a terrific season. 2 finals....is another 39 goals out of the question for a double ton?

Good story h31 but as Vits has said no truth to that gem about an internal against our A's. To be perfectly honest they would not get close to the A grade. The Gepps C grade is largely made up of guys the other side of 30 (and a few young lads who are getting their first taste of senior footy) that have played higher grades but are now content with a kick and a catch with their mates. Vits another win for the magoos mate. Impressive win loss ratio for you as cockroach. Look out Craigy Vits is on the march.

You are too kind BM. Handed back the reins to Charlie last week, had to have a run myself due to a spate of late season injuries! Great to finish off with four in a row for Charlie, who has done a great job over the last 5 years.

161 thats a sensational effort. On the goals in one game, in the Port lincoln footy league this year, Barry Johncock jr kicked 26 goal and about 11 points, brother of crows player graham. Not a bad effort for one game.
