Ch9 AFL Division 7 - 2015

Postby Footy Chick » Mon Oct 13, 2014 11:17 am

Sorry to the Mitchell Park, Angle Vale and the Wingies crew but I won't put you in, until your place in the league has been confirmed for 2015.

I'm not even sure I should've put North Pines in there.

Otherwise, dribble away.

Has Mitchell Park appointed a coach yet?

No, although the incumbent - Scott Weekley - has put it for it again.

What are your thoughts morell. Weekley? Or would you prefer a 'recruiter'?

My thoughts are irrelevant and I've got bigger fish to fry. ;)

Coaching is football department jurisdiction, I wont pretend to be anywhere near well informed enough to provide an appropriate opinion.

As long as we field two teams next year Superted and Spotty could be coach I would be happy. If it’s Scooter, that’s great, if it’s not I would feel for Scott as he’s been given the proverbial sandwich but so be it.

We simply must field two teams. Nothing else matters.

Applications don't close until 27th October. One thing is certain as morell has stated, applicants must posess the ability to recruit. Let's face it we need a whole 2nd team and we will leave no stone unturned to assure we are in Div 7 in 2015 with 2 teams.

Sorry if comes across as a MP thread but 'the bigger fish to fry' comment from morell relates to the future of our club. We have spoken about his vision and FWIW morell you have my 100 percent support in what you want to achieve. In fact if you can make it work it will have more of an impact on ensuring our club has longevity than any coaching appointment. Can't wait to catch up. ;)

Nah, I was being a douche and paying myself out based on a comment from our AGM when someone nominated me. Bit of an inside joke.

I am hoping to take on a specific role to do a bit of a business analysis on the structure, efficiency and strategic operations of the sports club. There are some specific visions that I have discussed openly with Kylie (Sports Club President), Ken (Football Club President), Mark (Juniors and Cricket) and Wayne (Football Director) - this role I guess is the first step in perhaps putting in some plans to implement that vision - pending the results of what we find of course! Could very well be that our vision is folly.

This is a critical time for everyone involved down at Mitchell Park. Personally speaking I think the next couple of years is the most significant in our history to date. With the Tonsley Development, the new multi million dollar facility getting built, our relationship with Council and the lease agreement, the structure of the broader bar business now and into the future, sharks at the door in regards to other clubs and organisations. There are so many issues at play that as important as it is “who coaches the A grade” next year sort of pales into a degree of insignificance. It’s a bit like worrying about who the Local Councillor is going to be when you want to implement Tax reform.

All sounds melodramatic, and it is to a degree, but if we can get things right, I can see Mitchell Park becoming a dominant club and climbing the ranks very quickly. Or we could die just as quick and SHOC will be playing in a nice new facility at Moreland Avenue in 2018.

One would suspect that depending on numbers PAC and Golden Grove might get tapped on the shoulder to join Div 7. Particularly with Unley and Rostrevor reportedly joining Div 8.

Three teams actually got relegated from Div 6. Angle Vale Mitchell Park and let's not forget Flinders Uni who should be able to get 2 teams up and running again in 2015. ;)

Looking at the teams so far posted as being in Division 7.....it seems there is an assumption that the SMWL will be there in 2015 despite finishing in the bottom two. The practice of promotion and relegation is not entirely defunct as far as I know not withstanding all the chaos that appears to encompass Divvy 7.

To be honest Q they nearly had enough for 2 this year but opted to go down the path of playing the guys who trained. They left out 4 or 5 most weeks and the rest were only phone calls away. I saw their coach in the local the other night interviewing players and weaving his magic. At this point they would be in a stronger position than us right now to get over the line. That said I'm pretty confident that if we make the right decisions we will be fine too. Actually it's a bit surreal but it will be fun playing against them. :D
