Crak would it be fair to say that many country clubs are filled with lads who are not local?
I'm actually genuinely interested.

Reading the forum it does seem the hfl does pay a lot of money to get players up there. Obviously there would be guns who grew up in the country and live in the city so I don't mean those blokes.

What would the ratio of paid city imports versus locals in the top comp?

What percentage of an amateur league club would be guys that have grown up with that club from juniors through to seniors?

I'd probably say a similar percentage to country maybe a little in favour. But I wouldn't say they've gone to new clubs in the SAAFL for the financial luring of HFL club. Eg haven lads may be a junior at haven then go to the magpies SANFL thn play at districts and then back to haven. Easier to leave the club but not necessarily the region. Actually I'd say 90% of Haven lads are local to the area.

I know HV would be 85-95% juniors. S Demon can probably confirm that,

Even the coach is a HV Junior

From the side that lost to Pooraka in the final, 14 of the 22 are HV juniors.

is that all? are you talking U18's or actual juniors.

I still refer to U18's as juniors and I would've thought that more of them played 18s...

*edit* just checked myself...we'll I'll be buggered, I counted 14 too.

12 of the 22 that played in North Havens GF side were former junior players, we would like that figure to be closer to 75% but our juniors are a work in progress.

21 of the 22 live in the local area which we are happy with.

13 of our GF 22 were old scholars and I think we only played with about 5 points too

We played with 6, and we both played in the GF. Maybe that says something for stability and familiarity.

We were 18/22 last year from juniors or Mercedes, a lot were both.

In 2013 we were 19/22, that number declined to 15/22 this year though.

ratio of juniors/non juniors

Postby Footy Chick » Tue Nov 18, 2014 8:29 am

I've taken the posts from the D4 thread.

Take your last game for 2014.

How many juniors out of 22 players played in your A grade squad?

Of the 21 that lost to Athelstone in Round 18, we had one current Under 16, two current Under 18s, 15 former SFC juniors, two from other junior clubs and one who took up footy with us as an adult.

We would have only half a dozen guys at best who played juniors at Walkerville. Most of our juniors go on to play for SPOC (mainly), PAOC and Blackfriars as that's where they went to school.

The Modbury premiership side would have had all MFC juniors apart from 4, then had 3 blokes who didnt play junior football at all.

Ok so it seems the lower division clubs have high numbers of juniors progressing to senior ranks.

The only reply from a high division team (Walkerville) suggests that the higher you go the less local players there are.
Would be good to get some more numbers from the higher division clubs

Walkerville is a bit of an exception DOOL.

They have plenty of juniors but because of their location, lose all their kids after u15's because they play college footy. Makes it hard to get them back thereafter.
