Not going to encourage the kids to try B/C Grade instead?

From experience D Grade doesn't really resemble "regular football" and is almost the ultimate kick and catch grade.

Plenty of fun, but a bit of a blackhole in terms of developing younger footballers.

They will play a better standard of football in Div 8. Some really good C grade teams this year. Not sure they will learn much running off a bloke who is overweight and doesn't train

I'm sure your right, just in my view, if you're 18 and mildly serious about your football D Grade is pretty much a grave yard.

It resembles the sport which is played in A/B Grades, but you'd have to be generous to call it the same thing

What did you perceive to be the benefit of three divisions out of curiosity?

I suppose Hectorville not getting a team up would have meant one div would only have had six sides

I was for three comps but when IF and Hectorville pulled out we were down to 19 clubs. Not really enough for three comps.

FWIW, I think its a good result. There's never an exact science to it, and one side will win the flag and one the spoon. But I reckon you'll get a more even spread of results and see some good quality footy (especially in the yellow division IMO).

You're being pedantic it could be their 4th XVIII for we know - but you get my drift.

It also gets around the junior points thing too.

What's wrong with only knowing private school kids btw? 8)
Don't play games with a girl who can play 'em better...

I'd be curious to what extent it does?

I would think if SHOC could claim zero pointers from both their Under 18s and School players that would be double dipping and seems a bit unfair (which is also my view regarding Unley-Mercedes).

I tend to agree....The highly motivated that don't find themselves having a crack in the SANFL etc. have more to gain by the intensity and competitive level of playing A's B's and even C grade as ability dictates.

At the "Den" our D grade is as you suggest is more for those still enjoying the game in the twilight of their careers playing in a less demanding environment along side any youngsters whose ambitions may not aspire to anything beyond a social grade of football as most subscribe to the standard of what the D grade is.

Having a large number of U/18's graduate to Senior football in 2014 we now have I believe four or five of those boys who particularly benefited by being exposed to the intensity levels at training and competition in the Reserves (even the odd A grade game) last season who now are challenging strongly for senior spots in 2015.

Similarly others who were grounded in the C grade and who remain motivated enough are also keen to progress their careers at more senior levels at the Club.

Just to clarify.. the D Grade is our 'entry level' but our younger lads will be encouraged to aspire to whatever grade they feel capable of. The point was, the Div 8 / 8R comp is better suited to bringing young lads into seniors give the pure C&D grade comp.. and yes, whilst an Under 18 side would be ideal, the track we've taken has better economies of scale and is logistically easier to handle.

Query from a mate, how many 18yo's (18 1st January) are allowed to play in the SAAFL u18's comp ? or how many allowed on the field at any given time.
Hey soccer you owe us 45million.

18, and it's U18.5s. There is also an allowance for a few U19s to play as long as they aren't playing senior football.

you are allowed 3 overagers to play each week. However if the overagers play 3 senior games for their club they cannot go back and play 18's

Anyone know if the league is going to do anything in regards to the all in brawl between Flinders Park and Brighton on Sunday. Apparently 2 players were sent off and then went toe to toe near the interchange which resulted in another all in brawl. I believe clubs were put on notice early in the season in regards to the clubs controlling their players.

That would be their second for the season.

Should be an interesting tribunal tomorrow night. My information is a FP player, who under normal circumstances would have been given a prescribed penalty has to front the tribunal. I think Head Office is keen to make a point on this one.

Brighton. Not sure who was at fault in your post but Brighton play right on the edge.

Brighton, play on the edge?

Complete opposite of how they played in the SFL.

Apparently the FP player didn't or wouldn't attend tribunal and has now been suspended until he fronts the tribunal
