An early night for you, LM?

That would've been the 2nd lucky girl for the night, just enough time to head back in for belt.

I doubt you'd find a worse footballer than myself, but as a spectator, I rate these grounds:

Williamstown
Angaston
Kapunda
Salisbury North
Goodwood
Gaza (after the redevelopment)
Kilburn
Caterer Oval
Goodwood
Lobethal

I never liked these grounds:
Modbury
Pertaringa
Greenacres
Henley
Willaston
Wingfield

I'm sure there's more for both categories, but I can't think of any right now.

Long Plains is the best oval I've come across in my footballing years.

I've never been there, but what makes it great?

Is it the surface, facilities, the surrounds, or all of the above?

'All of the above' is how I feel about Williamstown Oval.

The surface is all santa anna, it's like an oasis in the middle of nowhere, it will never get muddy and the facilities are well laid out and spacious.

Williamstown Oval is picturesque until the winter weather sets in.

University Oval is a pleasure to play on, especially early in the season.

Modbury late last year was by far the worst i'd seen. Either that or dealing with the wind at some of the sea side clubs like SMOSH or Henley wasn't overly fun. Nice surfaces though.

Cheers LM. I've always thought it to be a pretty good oval, but to be honest I don't see a lot of others outside our league.

As an aside the ground is privately owned by the club, so its all volunteer work, no Council help and we are yet to get any significant grants ever (got a couple around $5,000 or less a few years ago).

It will be awesome when the grandstand is erected, that wind is always a killer, I'd be the handball king every 2nd quarter.

Best
Salisbury North - cars parked around the oval. kicking towards club end in last qtr, all the c's, b's and drunk old blokes under the tree behind goals. terrible to train on though, too big!
Paralowie - whole neighbourhood watching, after seeing them the night before at the eureka or slug n lettuce
Peake - kicked a fair few sausage rolls on there
Ovingham - smallness
Salisbury - won a few gf's on it
Goodwood - was pristine back in my salis nth days

Worst
Mawson Lakes - not too bad this year but still windswept, terrible cover if it rains and you play b's and wanna get on the cans during the a's
Eastern Park - all the sticks and stones on the club side wing
Adel Uni - got f*cked over there, still paying off my lawyer
North Pines - sh*thole
One More!

Haven't had a great ground at Houghton yet having only played there later in the 2013 year. First time boundary in the pocket by the changeroom had to be brought in due to the inclussion of a swimming pool in that corner, the second time the semi final when you could barely lift your boot out of the mud, easily ankles deep. Seems to be a great atmosphere at the place and hope we can get a nice surface this time around.

Central United felt uneven went over on my ankle three times in a game I played for MP last year after having played in the b's for FU.

I'm now officially rating Camden Oval right up there with any parklands oval as the worst in Adelaide (Sorry Dave)

THankfully they're getting a new oval come September - not soon enough

No argument this end it was unfortunate it couldn't get done same time as the club but since it's fully funded by the council with no federal or state input the money only went so far.

After playing juniors in the SFL in the late 90’s, some of the decks we used to both train and play on were absolute pig pens. Hackham, Flagstaff Hill, Happy Valley, Reynella, Brighton, Morphett Vale the list goes on..... some of those grounds now would have some of the best surfaces going around.

Reckon the worst ammos ground when wet that I’ve seen was Heccies before they fixed the drainage and closely followed by Glenunga, Phos Camden, Mitcham, Modbury and Hope Valley.

Surprised with lack off drainage at Karen Rolten Oval on Saturday, is it like this after big rain normally, surface was great but huge pools off water around boundary fence, and in between pitches

Yes to the council's credit they have put in a lot of work on all these grounds, improving drainage and planting winter grasses, it started about 4 years ago and they advised the clubs the ovals would take a couple of years to improve but now they are excellent. Especially as the grounds are under more traffic pressure than ever with more subbie and female teams.
