WOW! bushpigs or M/vale. M/Vale recruited a few players for 2016. Hodge Iijcseen & couple of others for 2016...Corrie off a good 2015 wouldn't be cheap.
Flaggy -Smith only noteable for 2016.

Couldn't imagine either club getting caught if indeed they had paid overs, kangaroo court investigation's is what I hear.

Smith in, Alex Carey out.

Most SFL A grades are made up predominantly of juniors with selective recruiting, be better off investigating neighboring associations who have clubs that rely on the exact opposite.

I would also be inclined not to particularly suspect the SFL.

I can think of some associations where you wouldn't be able to swing a cat at an AGM to find a compliant club.

Balwyn premiership players take pay cut as a result of AFL Victoria salary cup
Toby Prime, Progress Leader
November 2, 2016 3:30pm
BALWYN football director Paul Johnson says the club’s players have all taken a “substantial” pay cut as a result of the introduction of the Eastern Football League’s salary cap.

The EFL has confirmed its Division 1 salary cap at $225,000, however, Johnson warned the Tigers would be stronger in 2017.

He conceded it had been hard to fit the Tigers’ premiership stars inside the salary cap, but when asked if players had been happy to take a pay cut, he said he “hadn’t had one problem so far”.

“The players are wanting to stick together, so we have probably taken a bit of the Hawthorn and Geelong philosophy,” Johnson said.

“We’re lucky, because we’re in the situation where a lot of the boys have been there a long time.

“Our payments have never been where anyone thought they were – we’ve really helped boys with their careers and we’re continuing to do that.

“Most the guys we are signing now, we’re signing with a career path for them as well.”

Johnson also queried why Essendon District Football League clubs were allowed an extra $25,000 in their salary cap.

EDFL Premier Division clubs will have $250,000 to spend next year.

“Why a league that is deemed to be lower than our league gets more money is just ridiculous,” Johnson said.

“Effectively, it is two more players. I think every league should be on the same – same points and same money – and then everyone is on even ground.”

The Tigers have re-signed their 2016 list, aside from Cliff Tomkins medallist Nathan Gordon, who is yet to have recommitted.

With a host of stars, including Jayme Gottliebsen, Shane Tregear and Luke Barker, missing from the Tigers 2016 premiership team and the inclusion of Hawthorn premiership player Jonathan Simpkin, Johnson suggested the side would only improve next year.

“There is a bit more depth there than what we had this year,” he said.

“At this stage, I think we’ll be improving, if anything.”

EASTERN Football League chief executive Phil Murton says the introduction of a salary cap will force clubs to be more selective in their recruiting.

Division 1 clubs will have $225,000 to spend — or the equivalent of about $570 per player over an 18-round season — and Division 2 sides will have a salary cap of $150,000.

Division 3 sides will be able to spend a maximum of $100,000 a season and Division 4 outfits $75,000, with clubs to be audited every year.

Where on Earth do these Vic teams get that kind of money to begin with? Are they all Pokies dens?

That salary Cap exceeds our yearly turnover (Juniors and Seniors!)

I would guess a combination of pokies, gate takings and massive sponsors.

I think it's a bit unfair to impart a value judgment on the figure, particularly if all clubs in the particular league are capable of sustainably spending the salary cap. All they've essentially done at that rate is a slightly smaller scale SANFL/VFL type competition.

I guess I am a bit more of a socialist then.

$500/player/per game for a local sport when we have people unable to house and feed themselves its a bit much IMO.

With player payments approaching a quarter of a million dollars, one would hope they also pay superannuation and declare to the ATO.....

Close friend of mine involved with a Div 1 club in the Diamond Valley League has told me their salary cap is $350K. Theu always have a host of ex AFL footballers coming through. They also run juniors as a separate identity with their last sponsor supplying them with a $50K digital video scoreboard.
Where do we get sponsors lie that!

From what I gather the culture around Victorian community football is significantly different to ours. Probably the main difference is that their SANFL equivalent became the AFL whereas the SANFL persists as this quasi community league which attracts that corporate dollar

Should we therefore make the current SANFL Comp a "Premier League" above Div 1 and make everyone part of the same comp. Promotion and relegation rules applied. Maybe make it a one up one down swap at the top end to make it a little more stable and harder to get into. Could even have a top 4 division, FA style, knockout cup competition through the season. Crazy thought or could it work? Discuss. :D

Never work. SANFL clubs as much as we dig fun at them are far more professional and turn over far more coin than Amateur clubs. Also then that means all levels will need to be structured the same from under 8's ect. If SANFL clubs had under 8's, 10's ect it would destroy junior football at amateur clubs as kids and families would be lining up for kms to play juniors at SANFL clubs rather than local clubs.

Am hearing an amateur club will quite possibly be done for salary cap breach. I dont know which club but i could take a guess. Led to believe just about all country clubs have been cleared.
How ironic if true, perhaps you amateur people can get off your high horse.

on another note what hope has the SANFL got if amateur Victorian comps are at a very similar salary cap
