Question:
In terms of the Amended Affiliation Agreement's (AAA) that clubs are placed on, what is the process for defining the need for applying them?

e.g.
#Total Number of reported offences in a season for club
#Total Number of matches suspended reached in a season
#Club Incident Rating over a season
#Ratings / Reports / Suspensions over a 2 or more year period

Haha! Not at all

Just think it might be something that would be worth understanding better - for instance if you're a coach and looking at clubs, I would think checking up on their history would be important, and in particular their recent season to see what sort of risk is associated if that makes sense?

For instance, hear a lot about say Salisbury North being on AAA, but then this year there are clubs like Portland with 7x reports, Pt Districts 5x reports, Fitzroy 5x reports, Gaza 4x reports.. do they come under the microscope?

Or does it go on games - so Portland have 7x reports for instance, for a total of 14 games, where as say Athelstone/Ingle Farm have 2x reports worth total off 11 games, or Modbury 6x reports 18 games?

Or does the league say ok may this is an isolated season, lets take the numbers over say 2-3 years?

Also better understanding allows clubs to keep a closer eye/monitor on their records, so they can reinforce correct behaviours instead of becoming complacent.

Does that make sense lol? :?

Think it needs to be taken over a few years to get a good gauge. Also need to take into account what the report was for.
Example is us (portland) this season. 2 of the reports came in round 1 for sling tackles. The rules had only been changed over the summer so perhaps a warning or 50m penalty should have handed out. Similar tackles later in the season from our players and opposition didnt even draw a free kick. It was evident the new rule was fresh in the umpires mind round 1. After all the players were made aware of this new rule at training the next week i dont believe we had another report for a sling tackle.
Another example is player called umpire a cheat. He wasnt in his face, didnt threaten umpire and it was after a very questionable decision. Not condoning the player but he recieved a red card and 3 game suspension. The umpire needed to take control of the situation but a yellow card would have been a fair penalty IMO.

Surely another issue in itself? Are clubs at risk of umpires abusing their power/position, over reacting/poorly handling situations or poorly skilled/trained?

How many clubs this year have fronted the tribunal and probably felt that a yellow card would suffice, and the report was hardly warranted? How many times have umpires over reacted this year?

How many Clubs are playing blokes who'd clearly prefer to be mixed-martial artists than footballers?
