Lucky there wasn't a question:

"How Important do you think you are to safooty.net?"

Otherwise I would have needed 5 wide screen monitors to get to the Very very very very very very important.

The biggest issue with the survey i think, is reading that she basically took a survey that was designed for male AFL players and has put it out to the general community football public.

Not saying i condone anything sexist or illegal etc, but obviously AFL players are under a constant microscope and need to be acutely aware of their behavior and surroundings, and also conscious not to implicate themselves by remaining involved in a situation.

Does that make sense lol?

Something has to change and the people who are the most in control in changing that are... Men. Because of this I consider myself a feminist and try to be acutely aware of the sorts of environments or catalysts that might cultivate a person to head in that direction.

Not arguing that there isn't an issue in this world, but making it women v men is stupid - a problem is a problem regardless of the sex.

Murder, assault, rape, domestic violence - it goes both ways. Address the issue as a whole, not the victimised group i.e. women.

Social media plays a huge part in this too - love pumping up these topics. Also organisations such as White Ribbon and Our Watch have been known to inflate/manipulate statistics deliberately to obtain greater government funding.

Wonder how much of the money they "raise" goes towards the victims etc? :-?

Yeah, sadly its just ignorance. Its pretty funny talking to people who aren't involved in footy about footy stuff.

The misconceptions are often hilarious. I had a date once where she asked if I ever got groupies - since, you know, I played football.

I said absolutely - if you include the crush the canteen lady has on me.

Hahah lelll

But no, feminsim just means women being on equal footing to men, in all facets of everyday life.

At the moment, that isn't the case. Hence, I am a feminist.

The problem is the new wave feminists doing their best to make people angry at feminists.

Fighting oppression by trying to oppress others is hindering the feminist cause. Men and women alike hate what they're doing.

So why don't you just promote equality instead of feminism? :-?

Totally agree.

All for swinging the pendulum to correct the balance but, I'd actually just classify them as trolls, are ruining the movement for the majority. Feminism and equality between the sexes benefits men too. More parental leave, better balance for child custody, more time with the family etc.

Weirdly, the Men's Rights Activists are often arguing for Feminist ideals.

I am. They're the same thing.

When Men are not equal in all facets of everyday life, I'll promote Masculism.

This is in no way trying to start an argument, but can you tell me one right that I as a male have, that a woman doesn't?

I don't feel safe walking down the street. I've had my head kicked in and my mouths still full of broken teeth.

They have the same rights I have to prosecute.

So you think a females insecurity to walk down a street is created/fueled by personal experience, or the conception formed from years of being told that men are predators?

And then somehow by further promoting/marketing/"raising awareness" of female victims, and highlighting males as predators (as opposed to the issue as a whole) e.g. domestic violence, these insecurities are going to be lifted and future generations of females will walk the streets with confidence? :?

I'm lost lol

Of course, and Men are victims of domestic violence too.

The difference is when the problem is systemic, entrenched and on a large scale. Which violence against women is.

99% of the time you'd feel safe waiting for a Taxi on Hindley Street at 11pm. A woman wouldn't.

Women are still judged for things men aren't.
They still get paid less - yes, there is a gap, contrary to many a wannabe mathematicians attempts at justifications.
Their work is both largely unrecognised and expected all at once.
They take the vast majority of the domestic workload - mentally and physically.

It's come a long way and it is close, don't get me wrong, I'd rather be a Woman living in a Western Country than a bloke living in Iraq, but still, until it's truly equal, I'll continue to consider myself a feminist.

I disagree with a lot of that, but I'm leaving work now so can't let you know why at the moment.

Might pick it up later. Might PM you to discuss it. It actually does interest me. :D

I more meant for the person feeling afraid, they're simply afraid. Whether or not that fear is reality or not isn't the point. The fact that fear exists for Women and not Men, is a privilege Men get to enjoy.

It's like trying to explain to someone that the Huntsman cant hurt you so give it a tickle under the chin.
