May cause a bit of ruckus with the top 5, whilst trying to get a spot for themselves

They are more than capable when they are up and about. In fact, there is not a lot between 2nd to 9th. Any one of those teams could win on any day. Depends on injuries and attitude. I believe ROCS are the standout, but their recent form is only fair. Every game is critical and no side is guaranteed to play finals.

Wouldn't of thought so, tough year when you have young cattle running around with inconsistent skill execution. Getting games into kids will make them better next year in Div 2. Some behind the scenes action already taking place!

Certainly no new coach at MFC. John is doing a great job with the young fellas he has and they are enjoying his teaching of the game. A win would be lovely though :D

We were in the game last week, a goal down at half time, but a 10min lapse in the 3rd saw them kick 5 quick ones which shut game out.

Port Districts away this week which is a very touch assignment. They are the best side by foot i have seen this year and for a long time in fact, clinical off half back and entry into FWD50. Wasnt surprised to see them beat ROCS and TTG but very surprised to see them drop a game to Athelstone.

Theyre bulldozing goodwood oval grandstand soon

The 300 seats (guessing) will be replaced by a pidlee little 20 seat cooperate box where only the mayor of unley and his associates can sit

Terrific new facilities for the club but its quite a past time lost for 1000s of local residents to visit, sit and watch sports

Or to take girlfriends to with a bottle of vodka at 11 oclock at night. :)

The new stand needs to accommodate everyone please reconsider the designs

Will be one of the best facilities in the league behind Railways Oval.

The folk of Goodwood a bit intimidating are they?

TTG 13.13 d Goodwood Saints 11.3. Saints led at 1/4 time, but Gullies dominated thereafter and should have won by a much bigger margin. Strange tactics by Goodwood after 1/4 time. Constantly set up with 2 extra defenders playing very deep. Allowed Gullies to have extras around the ball and Huggard to run amok in defence. Never changed their set all day. Maybe they aren't used to playing on normal sized grounds?

Yeah, I thought it was a weird set up in current format, quite pokey for arguably the most successful club in the ammo's this millennium.

Goodwood Football Club faces lights out after residents take it to court over ground lighting
Caleb Bond, The Advertiser
June 15, 2018 1:17pm

GOODWOOD Saints Football Club is facing a court battle with Millswood residents who are unhappy with its use of lights at its home ground.

The football club was last month given Unley Council permission to use the lights at Goodwood Oval on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights for training and women’s football.

But disgruntled residents have lodged an appeal against that decision in the Environment, Resources and Development Court.

The club had asked for – and won – permission to use the lights on Wednesdays between 5.30pm and 7.30pm for training, until 9pm on seven Friday nights per year for junior matches, and for five Saturday night games, finishing at 6.30pm.

Goodwood Saints president Craig Scott said a successful appeal would severely impact the club’s female players.

Mr Scott understood objections had come from people who wanted to walk their dogs at the oval.

“The club does not use the oval all day Monday to Fridays, Sunday nights, all Saturday

After the club won the right to use its lights for junior and female games, residents lodged an appeal. AAP Image/Morgan Sette
nights, and 16 out of 26 Saturdays,” Mr Scott said.

“The hockey field is also free four nights per week and, when in use, only used for one hour.

“We have basically asked for an extra two hours on a Wednesday night and 90 minutes on a Saturday night.”

He said the growth of girls football was “pointless” if they were unable to play on their home surface.

The Eastern Courier Messenger tried to contact residents – who it is understood object to the use of the oval at night – but none were willing to talk.

Unley councillor Don Palmer – whose ward includes Goodwood Oval – did not want to comment on the specifics of the issue, but understood that an appeal would cost the residents $10,000.

Cr Palmer was unable to say who had lodged the appeal.
