I love how self-centered people are capable of being, bring up google earth, know your wedding is scheduled for a saturday afternoon in May, see a footy oval, gee, I wonder if anyone is using it!

Yeah, used to happen at Smithfield all the time.

This Saturday sees Morphy Parks take on arch rival Plympton for the first time in 29 years.

These games always brought out the best, and worst of both teams back in the 80's, and I'm sure there will be a big crowd there at the Pastie.

The Morphett Arms may well be empty in the front bar for a few hours in the afternoon as both teams members have kept it afloat for decades.

Good crowd down there today Moe. A final between these two would pack a crowd.
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

Is it possible to have a rivalry if you haven't played for 29 years?

Yes, my oath it is possible.

I joined as a junior in 1986 and promptly learned Plympton v Morphies was Norwood v Port stuff. It stemmed through every grade.
Both were pretty powerful teams back then and they were always ding dong battles.
A few players swapped clubs and made the rivalry very real.

As mentioned earlier, the Morphett Arms front bar has been full of these past players and characters for years and years, and even though we were not playing each other, the ribbing of each others failures, boasting of our own successes and constant banter has kept it alive.

Even when our cricket sides play each other the rivalry is there, sometimes even more so.

I left at quarter time EV.

I had to work tonight, and I was 3 stubbies in, and they were going down very nicely.

I then watched from my balcony, and you are privvy to where I live no doubt.

Crowd was good, but not fantastic, although I believe the club rooms were pretty packed during the game. Around the oval there were a lot more than most home games though. Lots of familiar faces, and it will be a gigantic night tonight I would think.

Of course it is.

The players might think its juat another game but the old guys on the sidelines will think its sheep stations.

Indeed, I reminded a lot of The Lodge boys during the week of the 2012 GF of how Hope Valley beat us in the 83 Grand Final :D

Besides the result , it was a good day down at morphies. Pretty happy with the $5 pints :D . For a kid growing up at Plympton, it’s sort of ingrained into you that you have a dislike for 3clubs, phos (even though my dads a life member there), Edwardstown and especially Morphies. But saying that I have always enjoyed going to Morphies. I grow up seeing a lot of the older guys and it was good on Saturday when I saw a few of the older guys it was great to catch up with them.

Ps
Still have shocking guernseys though ;)

I also remember 92 when Smiffies played at Lodge Oval and there would've been over 1000 people crammed into the joint, I think there 50 in the ute on the couch alone
