Just a guess but maybe 2019

Rams should go to div 3 now cos theyre SFL pedigree and all. Theyre elite and weve under estimated them put them in the wrong div and all :)

Jokes aside Brighton, Morphetville Park, Marion and OSBLFC all made Grand Finals first year in. Brighton 2 in a row. The AdFL might have offended some top SFL clubs with their offers of starting Divs. If in fact there has been contact.

I actually think the league has made the correct calls with where they started each team from the SFL. It has given each club a chance to have success whilst finding their feet in a new league. I know if they started OSB and Marion in div 6 and they both missed finals would have been a worse result than having some success first and then building into div 6 with a year to know where they are at. Morphies have found their divisions and same as Brighton.

You wouldn’t swap leagues unless you had a thorough understanding of where you’re going to start and if you did without knowing then you’re nuts!

If you’re offended to start in those leagues no one is holding a gun to your head to move comps.

All I've seen is how starved for success your average SFL club has been.

Lonsdale and Marion would have won less games in the last 3-5 years than any other side in Div 7 so they were definitely placed in the right division. Flagstaff Hill would be a competitive Div 1 side if they moved across. Will be interesting to watch Brighton next year. Obviously will need to pick up or develop a few and keep their current side. I can’t see morphies getting higher than Div 2 for a while though if they can get to that division.

That's exactly my point. Would others have come across if offered a more favourable div? Or decided to stay in the SFL because they didn't get the offer they wanted.

Yep we went 31 years without success, but bloody hard work over the last 15 odd years means we are going for our 3rd flag in a row this Saturday, you can get bitter and take the easy option to find your level, or you can get better...which is a bloody long hard road but #$%ing worth it!

Going from copping 30 goal floggings every week (it was only 3 years ago Happy Valley smashed us by 20 goals) to back to back premiers, its unlikely the comp has dropped off that much, if it had why have Brighton done so well considering they left the SFL coming 4th?

A team like Lonsdale was never going to be able to get into a position to challenge in SFL though. I’m unsure why Marion seemed to not challenge though.

Brighton probably have become better because they are playing competitive football week in week out and not just once every 3 weeks like they were in the SFL.

Marion players turned over every year, yeah it seems the ones is up and going! You'd still need the established players. Waiting 3 to 5 years more for success was never gonna keep players there.

Flaggies have got better. Are very strong in all grades (reserves undefeated so far) and have unlimited juniors to build with from a large catchment area. Can't see them declining anytime soon.

Large catchment area? We are squeezed between Blackwood and Happy Valley and a more exposed to losing juniors to SANFL or HFL than any other SFL club.
