Was a bit of a waste of time in the end. Gullies only had 28, a mix of A/B/U18, that played three quarters against our B grade, (which we spent chasing guernseys around Aldi) and only two quarters against our A grade (pulled the pin early after waiting for 20 minutes for sprinklers to get turned off). Not sure why their C/D didn't turn up as was originally arranged. The Bedge wrote:Gullies pumped 'em.

Down the Hill wrote:The old adage of 3 or more trial matches is outdated and is a legacy of a time when pre-season would commence around Australia Day and trial matches were part of the pre-season fitness program. With the Adelaide 500 followed by the Adelaide Cup long weekend (that moved to March about 10 years) most trials on those weekends seem to get the same response "a waste of time". We have settled for 2 trials in recent years which we are doing again this year with trials on 18 & 25 March.

You're wrong on several levels, but that's not unusual for you.The Bedge wrote:Look at you blokes now crying foul! “Sandbagging ex AFL player”?! It was a trial game, and it features predominately higher grade players, why wouldn’t he play and how does that make him a sandbagger?
Pretty sure you (Houghton) organised this trial - and I don’t get where this shit about playing their D7 guys came from - the tile of this thread itself suggests it was a D1R side vs D7!
You organised a trial against a D1 B grade, you got pumped, now you’re complaining?
