Honestly think the run PNU had with the umps in the first quarter and a half was far more decisive than the wind

I watched the replay of the 1st quarter today

Wind:
5 goal wind in the first quarter that petered out in the 1st half of the 2nd quarter then kicked up to a 2-3 goal
First quarter: Seymour kicking out 70 - 75m! It was blowing the half full tinnies off our table!

Umpiring?
A bit inconsistent in the HTB and holding the man.
Saw plenty getting jumped on but no free yet see below
1st Quarter contentious goals:
I think Johnny G got the free for getting hit high not late
Push in the back by Perryman was BS. I hate that umpires cannot identify the collapsing legs.
Jolly played on but the umpire hadn’t called it so it’s not.

Old Iggies are just a tenant of the new Karen Rolton Oval. It's a full SACA Complex now (noting the back ovals have been SACA managed for years) and as of this summer will effectively become the new Adelaide No. 2. There's already been a Futures Game played on it and it will become the main venue for all State Women's Cricket. Not even sure if Iggies could even host their own home finals due to SACA wanting to get it ready for cricket come September. It's one of the things that annoys about SA and Adelaide. It is a magnificent complex and the surrounding landscaping when finished will make it a picturesque Cricket venue despite almost being in the heart of the city. Yet there is very little publicity about the work that has been done and the investment made by Govt, Council and Cricket. Many South Australians wouldn't even know what changes have been made to the old Railways Oval.

One of my must do’s when driving for leisure or work, like yours DTH is taking 5 minutes out of my time and checking out local footy grounds. Karen Rolton is another level and is better than any SANFL deck. I’d go as far and say it’s the 2nd best deck in SA behind AO. It’s a pleasure to visit and soak everything in.

That's a must for me when going to country towns.

Check out the playing surface at Long Plains if you're ever in the vicinity, the best I've seen.

I only played one game at Long Plains, made my only golden duck but just loved being out on the oval fielding. Was a great day.

Another to check out is Sevenhills ground, right on the Reisling Trail made the Advertisers top five grounds in SA last year

One of the beneficiaries of my job is my regional travel through Country Victoria and Southern NSW probably at least 2 weeks per month. Some of the grounds are just unreal. Tatura, Albury Tigers, Wangaratta Rovers, Horsham Demons, Echuca Bombers, Ararat, Bendigo, Red Cliffs, Swan Hill and Deniliquin Rams are just some of the peaches I’ve come across. There are many more that don’t come to mind yet. Mind you, not many of those mentioned clubs would get much change from $250k per year on their player budget so you would hope they saved some for their grounds.

$250k is well above the salary cap that has been introduced in recent years and substantially above any country league's cap, twice or three times as much in some cases.

Sorry I should be more specific, I’m including support staff, coaches ect in that player payments amount also. Reckon the Ovens Murray Cap is around 180k from memory so the extras would definitely push them towards that mark. The way some of these bigger country clubs and leagues in Vic are managed is unbelievable.

Horsham Demons oval is the City Oval, which is just the towns main oval, which used to be shared with Horsham United before they merged with Natimuk -so it used to get used for 4 games every week and it ALWAYS looks like carpet, I barely remember ever seeing a drop of mud on that oval for the time I was there.

Managed by Council, as is Stawell and Ararat

Reliably informed that Liam Davis won the PNU B & F from Brett Ancell.

SENIOR COACHING APPOINTMENT -
The Goodwood Saints Football Club is very pleased to announce the appointment of Luke Donaldson as senior coach for season 2020.

Luke returns to The Saints after 3 years at Westminster Old Scholars where in 2016 he coached the club to a premiership.
Luke's football experience was a key factor in his appointment -
1999 - Drafted Western Bulldogs
2000 - Western Bulldogs/Williamstown
2001-2008 West Adelaide Football Club 100+games, 2003 Grand Final runner up
2009-2014 - Goodwood Saints A Grade, Premiership player 2009 & 2014
2016-2017 - Senior Coach Westminster Old Scholars, 2016 D4 Premiers
2018- Director Football Westminster D3

Luke's knowledge of our club, our playing list, our culture and how we want to be seen and valued in the community was a stand out. Luke has a clear plan of how he wants the senior program to run and detailed how he will implement a disciplined and attacking game style.

Please join me in congratulating Luke on his appointment.
