Hey @one day I will, How did Cooper Burt go in the 1's?

He was good, presented really well coming out of FF.
He's a big lad, no one was going to stand in his way that's for sure.
Could have had a handful but didn't finish as good as he would have liked in front of goal, pleasing signs I would say.

Has exquisite skills, he played 17's last season so he's still very young, solid lad.

yes his skills are extremely beautiful and delicate :D

I thought that Rd 2 contained a lot of 1 sided results.
EFC had a good result against a team that got promoted.

I love the amateur league, I hate the very small percentage who ruin it for the larger population. Whilst I think the amateur league try their best I don’t think their anywhere near harsh enough on non football related incidents which are part of what lead to this type of culture. Classic example being a 6 game suspension for the broadview brawler who has no place on a football field.

Whilst it’s improving it’s miles behind any other league/sport in the state. Unfortunately it reflective of the shit society we currently live in

I think it’s a very interesting social experiment, you just don’t read or see these types of incidents happening very often if at all in the country leagues around the state.

There’s no comparison, country footy is town vs town and an entry fee, if you carry on like a knob everyone knows about it and it sticks forever.
Metro footy is free entry and any group of Barries can fill a few eskies and rock up anywhere to watch a game they have minimal interest in, they can get hammered, make a dick of themselves and not have a care in the world the next day while the club they watched gets dragged through the wringer.

Not quite a country league but I can think of at least three massive crowd brawls in the SFL that I personally saw (granted I stopped playing down their 15 years ago). The GF had to be permanently moved to South Adelaide's oval to help stop the crap that was happening in the crowd on GF day.

The ADFL is huge compared to the country/outer metro leagues.

Agree mate but how do we/them/they change the current culture which is seeing yearly incidents of this nature and in a high percentage of cases involving our northern suburbs clubs.

Im not sure a single person on here would believe these incidents are part of the game, good for the game and an inviting atmosphere to take families etc.

It definitely is a 'bigger' league but that doesn't mean individual crowds are bigger etc.

I love the ADFL and many of my best football memories are watching cracker ADFL battles on the field.

Just grates me that this type of behaviours continues to happen and even more sadly it seems in a high percentage of times to involve a northern suburbs club which as a proud northern suburbs boy makes it almost impossible to defend.

Ive seen clubs like EP try their absolute hardest to change the culture etc with very limited success which has threatened the clubs existence multiple times.

Who has the magic key, the magic formula to change this?

That's easy.....the individuals who continuously engage in this behaviour need to stop and think of the consequences of said actions!

That hasn't worked for how many years?

Is it time ADFL try and control gates and implement a rule such as on special occasion days such as ANZAC Day if clubs are to host a game they must be able to control a gate and control alcohol intake.

Whilst I hate going down that path its no surprise there is reports of crowds troubles on the one day which traditional is associated with high level of alcohol consumption (rightly or wrongly)

In almost all country leagues I know alcohol is not allowed to be brought into the ground, is this different for ADFL? That might be a starting point.

It is the same for all clubs (licensed areas etc.), but how do you police that?

Coooorrrect!

Especially a day like yesterday where there are only a few games on and a reason for people to get out to watch a game.. and it's a highly emotive day as it is without adding booze etc into the mix.

I think it's worked - when clubs and individuals actually want to make it work.. Smithfield and Ingle Farm prime examples of clubs who have worked hard to change their behaviours, standards and image.

Have security roaming around the ground (happens in other leagues)

Get the cops to drop thru and enforce it with the threat of the club losing its licence, its happened before.

Moving on.. some interesting results yesterday:

Elizabeth def Fitroy by 15 points
Hectorville def Brahma by 33 points
West Croydon def OSB by 119 points

Sullies might have their work cut out already to stay up this year after suffering their 3rd loss... makes for a massive game tomorrow between Ingle Farm and Para Hills, both with worse percentages, the loser will be planted to the foot of the ladder end of the round.

Very early in the season, but honestly hard to see the top 5 changing - West Croydon deserved early favourites along with Elizabeth and Heccies.

You are pretty much powerless to evict someone from a public reserve even if they aren’t adhering to the liquor licensing law, if they’re on the other side of the ground with their own esky it’s impossible to govern.
