not sure why cops are not at each Grand Final everyone knows that fights will break out between certain club supporters yet each year we have the same chat

Cops have better things to do that’s why.
Plus there aren’t that many coppers working on a Saturday to cover all games.

The league needs to spend some of the money they make on more security for the day.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Disagree that the 90% of clubs who can participate without incident should shoulder the costs for clubs who have frequent incidents.

If that's the approach the problem clubs should stump up for security costs

I agree we shouldn’t penalise the good clubs but we all know who the problem clubs are and they won’t change or hire extra security themselves to assist the club hosting their final.
Maybe the league could enforce clubs to hire the extra security based on past history or where the league deems necessary.

Not sure about any on field issues at St Mary's yesterday but the nasty off field matter was a Morphy Park supporter getting beaten up, kicked, head stomped, you name it, by other Morphy Park supporters. Apparently a lads dad and uncle decided to settle a score for an incident that occurred in town between the two lads a few weeks earlier. The lad got banged up pretty bad hence why an ambulance was called. I was at Kilburn yesterday and it was a great crowd with great atmosphere and all supporters were well behaved. Plenty of Kilburn folk including Shrekky were manning bars and BBQs etc. and it was just a really good GF vibe. Having people around the whole oval definitely helps.

A club beating on their own... I always thought Morphies were a different bunch but that takes the cake.

I was very thankful to have a completely uneventful and well behaved crowd at Campbelltown. My biggest problem was telling a couple of Haven folk not to take booze onto the oval and eftpos machines that decided to not work just as 4 busloads of supporters rocked up

The sad thing about this is a club being blamed for actions from ppl not involved at all with Morphettville Park, Friends bring Family and friends to games doesn't mean they are involved with clubs. Kenilworth ran a great day and the crowd was vocal and fantastic and well behaved as it should be at a Grand Final.

Firstly congratulations to Brahma Lodge. On field they were very good and played a style that was too quick for our team who likely broke the record for ice pack usage and tape required, just to get on the park this week. Their small pacey half forward movement on the small Oval killed us. Full respect to the way they played. Well done to Dene Steele and whoever the guy was that took his coaches medal and raised the cup with the Captain leaving Steeley to miss out on that special moment! Not sure what happened there, but whoever he was congratulations too!

Sadly the prelim was the GF for us and didnt have anything left in the tank.
Losing our Captain Shaun Gatto in such a cruel way thanks to a NSW truckie dropping a delivery at his work, was devastating. To lose our leader and they guy who everyone on our side looks up to really had a profound impact.

Off field.. a very poor display to put it lightly.. the setup at Mitcham was a disaster in the making. A pavilion right behind the interchange zone and our coaches box area was occupied by increasingly intoxicated Brahma Lodge people. Some of the WAGS were worse than the blokes but there were a few B grade guys who did embarrass themselves and their club by their conduct.
Bevvo their Pez and Match Day offical did his best but was too many to control.
I missed what happened at half time as we were in the rooms but was relieved when I heard noone from Central United was involved, our crowd set up on the outer wing and the hard tag was applied to Frankie all day!

And with that ends what was an enjoyable very close season in Div 7. See ya in Div 6 forum next year..

that probably makes more sense and makes up most of the trouble that tends to happen in crowds - when you look at juniors earlier in the year, to other grand finals a few years ago.

Also thought some of the Brahma supporters booing and mouthing off to a flinders player as he was coming off with a head knock was also a terrible look. What actually caused the big issue at half time? Just looked like it was seriously about to erupt and was gonna end badly

Tough luck on the loss mate, I know how much the club people at the Units wanted the win.

Despite the off field result I think its 100% clear that amongst the football community that the club is on the way up both on field and probably more importantly off field. With the likes of Fenners, yourself, Haysey, Keeno, Cozzie, Gatto you have a bunch of quality humans there and ultimately that is more important than the division you play in.

Only critism I ever have for a lot of the northern clubs is to be a tad more selective of the person you recruit regardless of their footy ability. The no dickhead policy should be applied at all times.

All the best in the future, I hope to see the Units get stronger and stronger.

BenchedEagle - Where to now for Units after Saturday? A need to target some youth must be a priority heading into next year?

If you were to go up to D6, based on the squads i've seen the last couple weeks, I think you struggle at the moment. No doubt you have some handy players, but they're getting on a bit now.

Would assume a couple may return back to Smithfield also?

I don't think any amount of security can prevent self-inflicted violence.

Too early to even think about next season! But yes Youth is the key.

Over rated but won the premiership [emoji849]
Not sure how much more you could overrate that…. Maybe you think they could beat a div1R side? (No they can’t)
