Thanks mate much appreciated - brighton got some serious discipline issues - but would guarantee they'd be the first club to slander northern sides.

Did Brighton hurt your feelings?
Their round 1 suspensions weren’t even match day reports and came from a goodwood complaint. They’ve had 2 red cards in the 2s that’s all.
It seems every club is still adjusting to the changes of dangerous tackle reports/suspensions so I’d argue they aren’t alone.

22 weeks coming from brighton

A bit of context Sticks. You have counted the plus matches which are those that sit in the suspension bank for 3 years so that does inflate your figures. Plus there were some errors in this weeks tribunal update. Our lad got 2 + 2 not 4 + 2. And thanks for your opinion on our discipline issues. 4 of our 5 reports have been for dangerous tackles. All of those tackle reports were A grade players who have never been reported previously. 3 of them in Round 1 which kickstarted the whole education process. Clearly some players (including one more of ours) across several clubs haven't learnt from what was widely reported after Round 1 and have been paying the price since.

I think there is still plenty of confusion around the dangerous tackle, despite the league's education process. I watched the Glenunga v Goodwood game on the weekend and there were 2 such tackles in about 5 minutes (1 from each team). Glenunga were paid a free kick for Goodwood's dangerous tackle, yet just after that, Goodwood were paid a free kick AND the Glenunga player was sent off. No consistency in the interpretation. Too much emphasis is placed on what happens to the player rather than the actual incident itself.

Confusion starts with the umpires - like the poor bloke from Salisbury North.. rewarded with a free kick for his tackle on the Saturday, suspended on review on the Monday,

I'd even wager a guess that more things later suspended for dangerous tackles have been paid holding the ball at the time than have received a yellow card at the time.

Umpires adjusting just as everyone else is.

Personally I see no confusion in what constitutes a dangerous tackle, it's pretty straight forward.

If you sling / throw with deliberate force that's dangerous.
If you grab, drive / dump with deliberate force into the ground that's dangerous.

If adjudicating it as an official, i'd probably ask myself - did that look bad? Yes.. then pay it.

Looking at the video I can see a dangerous tackle too.

When you've got a split second a lot look like holding the ball.

Hell, usually because a dangerous tackle involves hanging on to a bloke long enough to cause the danger it's more likely to be holding the ball in the traditional sense.

In the same way I've got sympathy for a lot of the players learning as they're going I've got sympathy for the umpires.

We played Goodwood in Round 2, and after the incidents in Round 1 they were almost comically oversensitive to what constituted a dangerous tackle. Finding the right balance instinctively will naturally take time.

Had some domestic matters meaning I couldn’t get to Petaringa today. What a great product the live streaming is.

Who would have thought our little old league would have this service. Brilliant.

At the half way point this is a fantastically poised division (that Goodwood will go on to win, because they always do)

I went and had a look, that was the 3/4 time score... SPOC's 4 goals came in the last part of the last qtr...

Brighton hunted the ball well, ran in good numbers and were a bit tougher in the clinches...

Brighton oval is in bad shape, it will only get worse from here too and cause games to be mud wrestling for the rest of the season...

Yep, I think a fair few ovals will be the same. Going to be a long, muddy winter after the downpour over the weekend.

Half way through next year (and it's the Gin Palace according to Peter Goers)

I own a few bricks in it - I reckon they're going to name a dunny after me 8)

Either a data entry error or even if game was called off due to a bad injury? The last qtr was clearly in progress so the team ahead on the scoreboard is still the winner.

Edit: will be finished by December this year.

The entertainment area is smaller than the massage rooms.
The good folk of the AdFL and ATCA will only have a small area out of the weather
Really disappointing after the improvements at other clubs.
