In the last month in Melrose Park there have been at least three $1 million sales, one yesterday at $1.8 million on Caufield Ave (I am told)

Correct but Caulfield Ave is in Cumberland Park.

Word around the pubs a lot of clubs struggling to get numbers to train. Could some fold or just have 1 a grade team big worries for some? Time will tell

Covid is the perfect excuse not to start pre season. If games are going ahead im sure they will be coming out in numbers to play once the season starts.

To be fair I wouldn't think too many D7 clubs would ever have huge numbers in early Jan.

Bloody tough market to rebuild in after an exile, especially when your main drawing power players have signed up the hill.

Also when you throw the covid curveball into it.

It's week 1 of preseason, high 30's earlier in the week, Covid flying around. Don't think this will be just a Div 7 issue

You could honestly write a script for how predictable this forum is.

Next will be the big signing that is way too good for Div 7 and will dominate

Then there will be accusations of spending huge football budgets

Then there will be drunken rubbish posted on a Saturday night with next day deletions and apologies

Then there will be calls that the season is over and no one will beat a certain club

Etc

Etc

Only if it's punching up.

Or if people wear guernseys over hoodies to the football

Original visitor changerooms were actually the home ones. Mitchell Park had the visitors plus what was later converted to the gym.

So...we decided to put visitors in a broom closet so we could theoretically lift weights. Back then we had to belt people so probably fair enough

Had to pay for the Daryl Jonas statue. Was intended to be 30ft high (at his request) but we spent it on beer and strippers

But seriously.

Old mate Yank Man is using Edwardstown football budget figures I think. $250k in 1987 would have the purchasing power of about $600k in 2022. Can't use cash inflation. Price of oil in 2008 got as high as $140. Was as low as $16 last year. Is now $86. Buy a flat screen TV in 2005, would be 5x price compared to now.

Secondly, I've been informed that the plans were to build a second story, so the foundations were thicker than your average. Plus found some good old reactive soil which added to the costs.

Rumours of dodgy invoices through contractors connected to the club to pay for aforementioned beer and strippers are... unproven.

Wasn't that around the average SAFA player budget back in the late 80's
