Not many though.....

Was wondering if this presented question marks about there being too many teams in the northern burbs but if Smithfields return has nothing to do with Brahama's downfull then its irrelevant.

Yes, you are right.

Any truth to this?

I've just been informed that you're jumping at shadows a bit mate, yes they have lost some players and there's a few lower grade players not playing at all but they will still have a decent A Grade and enough numbers to field a B Grade team.

This talk pops up annually on here, just the clubs vary.

Perhaps I was misinformed, another birdie came and sat on my other shoulder with some concerns, fingers crossed that the derailment is temporary.

Having too many teams in the northern suburbs isn’t the problem, wouldn’t matter Smithfield or not, if a player wants to leave, they’ll go, regardless if Smithfield’s there or not. The one Brahma player that’s come across that I know of played at Smithfield first and has most played more games for Smithfield I’m pretty sure

I dont really know much about these teams but I have seen Marion and they looked right up to it. ALFC recruited some good players before Christmas. Always respect the teams dropping a division and the ones coming up who, as clubs, can be on the move in the right direction.

I have heard Brahma lodge are absolutely struggling, players playing 2 games in trial matches just to field a side as no one wants to be there. Lots of players have walked from the club. Central United will do a massive number on them round 1 if they can field a side. Brahma back to D7 if they don’t fold in the mean time.

They won’t go D7. As harsh as it sounds, and tough to see clubs go through this, there are too many examples in recent years of clubs dropping / rebuilding / winning / repeating etc.. can’t see the league showing leniency. It’ll be D6 or bust.

I sincerely hope it doesn’t happen but in reality Div 6/7 is the hardest for clubs to operate in. Good players want to play higher, good coaches want to coach higher, and every now and then you get the right combination and bingo it all comes together. Most clubs in these divisions would find it extremely hard to find the funds to fit in to the maximum weekly payment for players. $2500 per week is a big ask and almost all Div 1 to Div 4 clubs are paying it. That’s why it’s hard to retain what you have after success.

Would make it another club going under out this way in recent memory. Paralowie, North Pines, Salisbury West and now possibly Brahma. Smithfield with a heartbeat this year. A lot of non football families moving into the area, soccer is booming! Three of those four sides really let their Juniors slip away, Salisbury West the exception but we are all aware fo those circumstances, hence why Smithfield have a good chance to 'survive'

However Smithfield, Para Hills, Ingle Farm and Salisbury last year were looking VERY shaky and all 4 clubs will need a string start to the season to build momentum and ensure the doors continue to open for the next 20 years!
