Subs

We all know how painful collecting subs are! I’m interested to know if anyone has any good tips, methods or processes that helped lighten the load and take some of the burden away.

Does anyone know of ways to do subs through BNPL? Like PayPal, Zip or Afterpay?

Also don’t be shy to just tee off on players who dodge paying subs

If you can find the right team manager the $100 up front and $10 per week is pretty good.

Need a determined old prick who won't be put off (or confuse it with his beer and cigs money) though.

I think the best way is for the treasurer to invoice everyone and payments are added to the invoice as they pay. EFT only, no cash payments over the bar. Statements sent every two weeks so no excuses that they didn’t know.

For cricket this year, we engaged a company / app called "Team Pay".. they use it for social basketball etc.

It's been very successful at cricket, i'll be trying it at football this season - essentially players setup, add card details and each game they play they're charged an amount you've set up e.g. $10.

Just need a "captain" to go in and select the players on the app and then charge for the game.

In the dashboard you can set up specific amounts i.e. $5 for U18s, so i'm hoping this year I can just work out how much players owe on their subs and then divide by games in the season and set their amount at that.

We have setup for rego this year options for players to pay 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of their fees when registering, and if 100% then offered a discount.

See how it goes i guess.

I may be showing my hand as to how long it’s been since I’ve played or been on a committee!

We do a weekly payment. For the last few years subs are $25 per game you play. It does mean the more you play the more you pay but we haven't had any complaints about it. More often than not, if a player misses paying one week he'll remind the team manager the next game and pay double. All done through an eftpos white square.

This has made it a lot easier to get subs paid and saves the hassle of chasing players for money

We used square for cricket last year as well, I had more success using Square Invoice and texting invoices for match fees to players and then they paid, was super easy (little time consuming), but they got a link, clicked on it and paid, and I got emails confirming payment. Simple.

We used the Play HQ system. When players registered, they had to pay their subs in full at the same time.

Worked well, 99.9% fully paid by round 1 no chasing players etc. Gives the club a good cash flow hit.

Players now know this is the norm. Do it once and everyone will toe the line.

We do the same at our club....being country there might be a bit more cash floating around.....or am i being to presumptuous.

Our registrations are ready to go now so 99.9% of blokes will save the fees over the next ten weeks before the season starts.

Ingle Farm is $360, then players are required to buy their own shorts and socks on top.
