Freeling loosing the 2006 Grand Final was a massive Choke , Barossa Distiricts basically did a Steven Bradbury . Freeling the best team in the comp for 2006 fell over and handed Barossa the cup .

Even Kimba's B grade would of won that GF !!!!!

Maybe the boys at Barossa can give Leal a call and make a time to hand over the cup, is that what you are suggesting. I'm sure TST would love to paint the chimney again, maybe you can organise the working bee

I would think ROCS & PHOS rate a mention in recent times; Goodwood are certainly the opposite of this situation

Goodies lost 3 or 4 GF's in a row before winning the last couple didn't they?

There will be no need to make the call , BD will be handing the cup back by September 2007 anyway . They are perhaps the worst side to ever win a premiership due to the poor standard of the BL&G and should of been kept in the Hills league to prevent there wooden spoon collection getting any larger .

so hafey what is your " educated " guess on where BD will finish this year
The worst team ever to win a premiership............. hello, they won 14 out of 16 minor round games, drew in the 2nd semi and beaten in overtime, won the prelim by approx 7 goals and won GF by 3 odd
you have a lot to say with not much to back your statements up

151 those stats look reasonable on paper but dont tell the true story , Freeling finished minor premiers ( deafeting Barossa comfortably twice during the season ) won the 2nd semi and went straight into the GF & unfortunately for them fell over at the final hurdle due to complacesency . How often do you see the out and out favorites and best side for the year got knocked off in the GF ???? this was another case of this .

Other then Freeling no other club in that league would of worthy of Div 3 here in Adelaide . The few games i watched in the Barossa last year i found the standard poor at best , It is a shame as that league used to rival Div 1 standards going back 10 years .

Sorry but Barossa Districts over achieving by a long way and winning the 2006 GF was just a reflection of how much the BL&G has gone downhill .

As for a prediction i dont follow the league close enough to open myself up for a predicted position finish , i will predict that Barossa definately wont be coached well enough or have the talent to go back to back . Like i said it was a Steve Bradbury win in 2006

after watching a few A2 games last year i would say it was equal to that standard
never however do i believe it has rivaled A1 standard now or in the past
obviously you having something against the BD coach
Maybe you played against him and he fixed you up, seeing that you have a affliation with the amatures and thats where he played also
just a observation
perhaps you should watch more than just a couple of Barossa and Light games then you would get a true reflection of the league's standard
By the way BD finished top after the minor round loosing 2 games to freeling and freeling loosing 3 games ....just to get it right
Yes you are right there has been many sides that win the 2nd semi go straight into the GF and loose, maybe over confident, maybe they play their GF in the 2nd final, who knows but it has become a interesting stat over the last decade

151 i have nothing against BD or there coach , i just know for a fact they have been the whipping boys of the comp for a long time and the demise of the BL&G has resulted in them collecting a premiership with the help of more imports then all other clubs besides Freeling .
If you had seen the BL&G in the early 90's with the power sides like Tanunda , South Gawler , Gawler Centrals and Willaston all chock full of ex league players you would of seen they would of easily been competitive in A1 . I saw Willaston give Port Districts a touch up in a trial game in 92 , i know it was only a trial but both sides were as good as at full strength and it was 1 week before round 1 .

Would love to see BD line up against any Div 1 side , they would run out of numbers on the score board ....

cant comment on the era you are talking off because i didnt see a game in those days but yes i knew it was a haven for ex league players
and agree BD for example would get beat by A1 sides but not by the margin you may think
I am confident they would hold their own in A2 however
You talk off a trial game and i have seen a few trials against the BLG league and the SAAFL and on each occasion they have held their own, Sth Gawler, Willaston and Barossa
i look forward to watching the results over the year and have more debate with you over the standards

Barossa beat Kilburn in a trial last year, I know it's only a trial but I think they'd be competitive in A2...

Hafey, i think your adidas 3 stripe tshirt is to tight. what a bloody stupid comment. I was under the impression that the team that holds the cup up at the final siren in any sport on GF day was THE BEST IN THE LEAGUE. ?? I am sick of hearing " oh the best team didnt win" or " ah, luck wasnt on their side today" The reason the stats look so bloody good is exactly that....they were the best team in the league, hence why the cup is at their joint !
As for the standard..I think the league is as strong as ever and still does have a lot of league players playing in it. The only difference is with the addition of the AFL the SANFL players are not as high profile as it was pre crows. In the GF, there would have ben at least 10 players that have played SANFL??? i would think that BD would take it up to any div 2 team, and give some Div 1 clubs a run for their money. So get off your high horse, it sounds like sour grapes to me !!
If winning isn't everything, why do they keep score?

Kilburn is probably not the team you would use to benchmark A2 standard.

When I played at Barossa years ago, they were a laughing stock.

The lowest they'd ever been (which is pretty low.)

Still beat a Div. 3 side in a trial though...

I understand that, but by beating them you would think they would be competitive (ie not get relegated), wouldn't think they would actually be the benchmark in A2.
