Golden North Football Club SAAFL

Does anybody have any information about the Golden North Football Club ,they played in the SAAFL in 1999 in Div 9 or 10. Does anybody know how they went in their only season ?Were they a works team ?

I played a C grade game against them in A10 in 2000 I think. They beat us at Ovingham's oval (from distant memory). They made the final four but were 'disqualified' (not sure of the official term) for owing the SAAFL money. They never paid it from what I heard, and were promptly de-registered.

Please understand, this is what I heard playing for an opposition club at the time, I have no idea whether this is actually what happened, but I do know they didn't resurface the next year.

You are right they played in div10 nth in the SAAFL played their games at Cane reserve (Ovinghams ground)They had purple & gold guernseys and were in the comp for one year they were a team made up of the Golden North ice cream factory workers
