well little bayman had his first game of the year today (for clg)

clg 1.1.7 1.1.7 2.1.13 3.2.20

ed 1.0.6 2.0.12 2.1.13 2.1.13

an entertaining game & there was good players on both sides but i dont know their names as for little bayman he went ok without dominating like he did in a trial match they had a couple of weeks ago

if anyone has kids (boys & girls) that would like to play contact your local club, the clubs in the area we have are

i think that is all of the clubs they go u/8's & up there is no tackling & two hands touching the ball is a mark to give them confidence etc so if they want to give it a go

Bayman, under the rules of junior football no results are to be posted or recorded for the U/8's, U/9's and U/10's competition, please remove this posting. If it happens again there might be a fine sent to your club (I know the rules as i am involved in the MSJFL)

fair dinkum kookas that is ridiculus whats wrong with posting kids results and best players i know when i was young i got a buzz out of seeing my name in the best or for kicking goals this is creating a problem down the track when the lads play u14's and players are named in the best or for goals and little johnny misses out he and or his parents sometimes spit the dummy cause its just not fair. I know its not your rule but in my opinion it is stupid

to answer your question the girth, it is a directive from the AFL, full name the arsehole football league who dont want results, best players and tables to be organised.

stiff, i'll put them in as little bayman likes them in & i can tell you every kid in every side wants to know who is in front etc, this garbage of telling them it is a draw every week is ridiculous, how does it teach them how to win ? & how to lose ?

ps, i'm only a dad at the game & not an official of the club & i'll continue to keep score, maybe society wouldn't be as bad as it is if they had winners & loses every week, so they learn to take the good with the bad etc

also seeing you have involvement in the league & there is no ladders etc WHY DID THEY HAVE A KNOCKOUT COMPETITION AT KENILWORTH LAST YEAR UNDER LIGHTS, CALLING THEM FINALS ????????????????????????? & BY THE WAY CLG LOST THE GRAND FINAL ON THAT NIGHT & A FEW OF THE BOYS INCLUDING LITTLE BAYMAN CRIED, WHY ? BECAUSE THEY KNOW THE CONCEPT OF WINNING & LOSING & WANTED TO WIN, NOT DRAW, THEY WANTED TO WIN, AS DID THE SIDE THEY PLAYED. I BELIEVE THIS TEACHES THEM VALUABLE LESSONS

ps the club does not know i do this & as i said i do it for little bayman as he likes to read it after & i'm glad he reads it as that also helps with his education (by reading)

Well Said, What a stupid, absurd thing the AFL has a monopoly on Aussie Rules football and thinks it's rules should apply to everyone in every league!

They have pretty much killed off junior football and Mini-League with their AUSKICK!

i can remember being a lad and being picked to play for centrals, it was awesome. pull your head in Kooka's it's only kids!!

rules are rules the rooster, trust me i think it is stupid but we got to follow the rules, i would mainly like to see each week that they at least put in best players in the paper, it is a buzz to see your name in the paper, i would be happy with that. thanks for your honest reply bayman, as mentioned before i would at least like to see best players mentioned at least, my involvment is through one of the clubs that play in the competition.

In North Eastern Metro the published winning margin can be no more than 60 points for U/11's to U/16's. So if you win by 25 goals to 3 the published score, and the score used to calculate the ladder, will be 13 goals to 3. It will be a disadvantage to win by 25 goals to 3, rather than 11 goals to 1, because once the score is adjusted the team winning by the bigger margin will have a lower percentage.

What do you think?

Apparently this is designed to make coaches with big leads in games rotate their players and give the less brilliant players a go. But my argument is - why should a good player be dragged just because the team is performing well, or the opposition is poor? Kids play football because they want to, and they want to play as well as possible. Do teams now have to ease off, miss shots for goal, miss tackles, kick to the opposition ext, just because they are better than the opposition. In a recent game our U/16's coach played all his players out of position after 1/2 time and it reduced the winning margin from, maybe, 40 goals to 26 goals. Maybe he should have taken a player off every 5 minutes and made it 10 vesus 18 at the end of the game.

Maybe the onus should be on the 'weaker' teams to get better coaches, promote the game in their area, build depth and fitness, rather than penalising the 'stronger' teams.

its a bit weak Pearcey, when I played we had the mercy rule if team was more than 20 goals up at half time, 6 blokes had to swap jumpers and play for the opposition in the 2nd half. Also on a number of occasions if a team was short we'd play 15 a side with the short numbered team had players play either the first half then go back to their own team and get sent another lot for the second.

How are the kids going to learn to loose gracefully when for the first five years of their footballing life they are told its a draw every week

Under NEMJFA rules Under 11's and older can't play for the other team if they are short. I want to make the point regarding the Under 16's game I mentioned that the Club we played has 2 Under 16 teams. One is superb and the other team, which we played, is the opposite. Surely THAT club has the responsibility to even up THEIR teams so one doesn't get flogged every week while the other wins by 20 goals!

not sure of who the opposition was on sunday but I happened to have a look at the CLG game on sunday morning, only grabbed the 2nd half.

I had never heard the CLG club song and when I was told about the fact that there were no scores I found it hard to believe that the kids would BELT out the club song after a DRAW!!!!!

I think LittleBayman was happy after the game, he played well and the rest of his team-mates also played well and they were happy!!!! a bit surprising given it was a draw.

I had the privilege of listening to the club song from the u/9's and it was quite amusing to hear the kids sing about drinking at the bar!!! At 10:05am they were looking for the nearest pub for a drink after a superb wi.....draw

i watched pooraka u/8 . in my opinion there was too many flooding tactics use by the coaches. they even used themselves to fill in the empty spaces.

It's all political correctness gone mad!

Why the hell can't a score be kept - even only for an idea of a team's performance? How will a team learn if they are getting better or worse ... hell, just don't play finals and have a lightning premiership ... oh, that might give kids a failure complex if they get knocked out!

When I was that age, we weren't too fazed as to whether we won or not but how many times you could get the pill and do something with it. In my first season of footy (Under 10s in 1984) I played in a side that lost their first four or five games (the first two by three-figure margins) but I could not give a sh1t as I was more worried about getting a kick (and a goal or two) as a forward pocket/flanker. Our side lost by less and less each week and we were therefore able to gauge our improvement. From these lessons. we went on an 8-game winning streak in mid-late season to make the 'Four ... but losing a GF 1.8 to 3.2 in mud five inches deep is another matter!

Political correctness seems to equate to softness more and more every day and we are breeding a "delicate generation". Mate, when we got flogged by 20 goals in my first game our coach told us what we were doing wrong and that we would have to work harder on our game if we wanted to improve - we heeded the advice and learnt from it. The generalisation of today's kids is that they will cry off and play computer games instead of risking the fear of failure. It's a pity.

its important to learn how to win and lose. thats what life is all about.

Exactly MB ... people need to learn lessons from life and the situations that confront them, which in turn will help then develop character and build people who can adapt to various positive and negative situations later in life - not the burgeoning "there, there, Billy let's go to Macca's on the way home for a Happy Meal to cheer you up" mentality.
