ANZAC DAY SUCCESS DIV 2

Was anyone at the ANZC day clash between Seaton & Districts yesterday. It was a huge crowd and a success for Districts but i would have thought anyone there would have had a great day!!

The game itself was a cracker with the lead swinging both ways all day. I think all involved should be proud of the way it was played and the way it was supported, i think you will find an ANZAC clash each year from now on!!

Was impressed with Port Districts CHF Christofis thought he played well along with Alf Steed.

Very successful concept - applied in Victorian grassroots footy (city & country) for a good 10 years now. Another concept is the Good Friday match, with megabucks being raised for these types of matches. Though, like with Sunday matches, these need to be regulated and make sure that there aren't too many flooding the market and diluting the value for the clubs playing on the day.

And what a blockbuster it was! 48 goals in 1 match... Bloke kicking 11 in a losing side....

Sorry Hendo i did contemplate heading down to the Brzsenki (however you spell it) Cup but as we've already played both of those sides i decided to give it a miss...by the looks of it I missed quite a spectacle!

Yeah that was a problem. Also losing the Vice Captain before the game hurt, as did losing a great player half way through.

Puecker did a hamstring in the first quarter which hurt districts, lost there ave to goal, but no. 20 went down there and provided a target and 2 aboriginal lads were awesome in spits and spats, turned the game, no. 31 made coard look slow which isnt an easy mission!!

Didn't stay for the medal presentations after the match but I reckon Wilkins from Seaton would have been close to BOG. Coard was also pretty impressive with his run out of the back lines.

Perry was a stand out for Districts, played a great game. Warren was also pretty impressive. Tossold was OK, but didn't seem to do much, drifted in and out of the game. Lynch was solid as well. Not sure how you can say Baggot was in the best players though, got absolutely carved up by Wilkins. Can't even remember him taking a mark, and wouldn't have had more than 2 or 3! (Couple of old Districts supports near me were far from impressed with him!!!).

Perry won the medal for BOG,

Coard only played a half went missing in the 2nd, wilkins did carve up Baggot, but surely BOG would have gone to Ryan Kelly, one of the smallest men on the ground but it didnt take a backwards step and used the ball really well!!

Sorry, forgot to mention Kelly!! You're right as well Coard went missing a bit in the 2nd half when Ware and Clinch went forward. Not sure of your opinion, but Seaton look like they are playing a better brand of footy this year. Not sure about Districts, when they were winning last year looked much better that this season. Maybe it is all the new players they have.

I agree Shaz, Seaton's style of play looked good when they were up and going early. They seemed to have a bit more system up forward. Districts did well though to shut their key players down. Patruno, Marshall, Hughes and Place were all over them early. Districts seemed to work harder for their goals, still dont think there is much between them. Will be a toss-of-the-coin result next time they play, for sure. It was a fantastic day there too, spoke to a couple of the Seaton guys before the game and they had that pumped, but nervous look in their eyes, the day definately had a finals-like atmosphere to it.

Thought Christofis was well beaten by Thomas and Steed drifted in and out of the game. Most players had periods when they played well but after the 4 day break found it hard to sustain it for the four quarters. Districts back half were solid all day and that was probably the difference. It will be interesting to see next time when both teams get a 7 day break and wether Districts can combat Ramblers running game that was so evident in the first quarter.
