well the boys had another day singing the club song & were never in danger of not singing it although goodwood did get the first 'sausage roll' of the day but they cruised after that, little bayman didn't do much until after halftime as he spent the first half in defence, he was given a run on the ball & went well including taking a pack mark (he held it too)& kicking a goal, in the last term he got played at centre half forward & kicked another 'sausage roll' i was bemused at goodwoods 'jumpers' they were like 'netball bibs' although with f,c,b on them obviously for forwards,centres & back is a good initiative, what i'm impressed with is how the boys share the ball around as a team

well little bayman had his first game of the year today (for clg)and they sung their song.

colonel light v goodwood u/8's again (2 weeks in a row)
well they played goodwood again & were behind all day & somehow managed to sing the club song at the end of the game

glenunga v colonel light u/8's
well as you know i am not allowed to give the scores but little baymans team was happy to sing the club song,

unley jets v colonel light gardens u/8's
well they (clg) dominated basically the whole game except for the first part of the final term when they (uj) quickly put on 3 goals but the boys from clg steadied & had a comfortable victory & was happy singing the club song

What a load of crap! Banning the publication of scores. Who is going to be hurt by publishing the scores from a footy game?
The kids generally know who won, unless it's really, really close. Also, if the coach, team officials and parents are responsible then the kids on either side won't be too worried. On our club website: http://www.geppscross.homestead.com you will find the results for every match, from Under 6's to Under 16's, plus best players and goal scorers. For example:
Under 6:

Pearcey you are lucky to have under 6's anyway. you are not meant to have them anyway. if you got off your high horse and looked at the broader picture instead of worrying about gepps cross to much, you would want to promote clean and skillfull players not winners and losers.

I don't have a problem with clubs publishing their junior results on their own websites, on a want to know basis it's good that the seniors & members can see how the littleys are going. Same the under 6's, go see a game kookas downright awesome, you'll never see a bunch of kids, parents, & officials enjoying themselves more than this.
I do have a bit of a problem though with bayman publishing his sons score & performance each week, & this is by no means a personal attack as I'm sure it's a well meaning gesture for his lad.
To see for example the expression ''he dominated'' or ''did'nt dominate'' just does'nt ring right with me & a post a coupla few weeks ago a thread where an opposing team were 6 players short. Was dissapointing not to see that CLG did'nt lend the other team the numbers to make a competition of the game, instead all I could see was that CLG won by 10 goals or whatever. That just does'nt sit well with me.
After 11 years combined following both my sons junior football week in & week out I've seen some wonderful footy sportsmanship & unfortunately a lot of scary situations, one in mind was a poor lad whose Father used to sit in the stands with a laptop & take in his possesions, at each quarter he'd take the boy aside & grill him over his performance, very sad.
I'm sure baymans not like this at all, & I'm not implying it but I do agree with kookas that the whole reason for 6 - 10 year olds to play footy is for enjoyment & fun, & even though winning is a great buzz for the kids sportsmanship should be first & foremost.

Have dealt with Pearcys lot & if you want to see a club promote junior sportsmanship & fair play you won't see better any than Geppys.

sheik, little bayman likes/wants them to go up, as for a team that was short of players i may not have made it clear but 6 boys in every quarter from clg played for the opposition including little bayman & this happens frequently throughout all the sides in the competition, as for whether little bayman played well or not doesn't worry me as long as he is learning & having fun but i just give my assesment as for (before someone jumps in) i'm not one of those parents that yell & scream etc i just observe the game & say what i've seen.

now i've said this before if they are really against scores, ladders & finals etc why did they have a round robin competition with the winners going through to finals last year ?? DOUBLE STANDARDS

the other point that i've mentioned recently is why do schools publish in schools newsletters & in the paper netball & soccer results for kids of the same age ?? DOUBLE STANDARDS

NEMJFA has an Under 6 competition with 15 teams.

As many, many kids aged 5 and 6 love footy, but are too small to play in the Under 8's, (as they had to up until 4 years ago), NEMJFA formed an Under 6 comp.

There is no better sight in junior footy, and no better example of what junior sport is all about, than the Under 6's.

Some kids chase and grab the ball, others kneel on the ground with their opponents looking for ants!

Anyway it's all good fun. The coaches and the umpires help the kids to kick in the right direction and don't punish a player for running 30 metres without bouncing the ball.

The kids a generally take their footy very seriously though. Yesterday we had a 'mini-league' Under 6 scratch match at 1/2 time in the seniors flogging by TT Gully and the coach asked the boys to jog 20 metres to gather in front of the change rooms.

The 'lil darlings misunderstood and did a full lap of the oval, which is quite a big one at Gepps Cross.

Would have slept well last night!

As I said earlier EVERY player in 6's and 8's will get a mention as a 'best player' during the season.

If your quite happy giving a report on the games each week please continue to do so, just because I'm not that keen on it does'nt mean jack.
I don't mind scores being kept in house for future records & of course goalscorers for club records but I still like the idea that the results are not recorded publicly till the 11's. The littleys don't seem to worry if they've won or lost from what I've seen in the past & are just happy to play.

how harmful can it be if someone posts their son's/daughter's performance on this forum or any forum for that matter.
children are in a win/lose situation from the day they are born. some will be brought up right, some won't. to think a member here posting results/stats/performance is going to harm a child is utter nonesence. i would have thought by the time these children are 8 y.o. they would have been taught a lot of things, right from wrong, good and bad, the do's and don'ts. all we have here is a parent who is making an effort with his child (compared to a lot of parents who don't), in developing his young son's ability in life, in this case football. if we are afraid not to publish scores/best players because it may affect a child's mind (how come i'm not in the best players/goal kickers) do we ban the education department from teaching reading and using a computer. get over it guys there are far more things to worry about with your children in today's society than a few results that a member posts on this forum.

P.S. can someone go and explain to member's IAN and WEDGIE'S children the do's and don'ts of not picking 4 winners each week and why they are not leading the sanfl footy tipping competition, because i know there could be some emotional physcological damage occurring here.
