The half way mark... any surprises??

Postby Footy Chick » Mon Jun 18, 2007 4:18 pm

It's hard to believe half the season is already over...

who are the teams that have surprised you in terms of performance thus far? Is there a team which you thought would do well and has struggled??

Para Hills have come from nowhere and are looking pretty good. North Haven on the other hand have stagnated and don't look to be showing their pre-season promises as expected

kenilworth- thought they might of have done a little better at the moment, coach at the start of the year has stepped down because he just wants to concetrate on playing football. :o

TTG definitely a suprise in Div1.
Looks like Goodies, Gaza and TTG for top 3 spots.
Rocs, Salisbury North and the mighty Broadies to fight it out for other two spots.
Henley and Edwardstown to get relegated.

the fact that the new c1-c6 structure looks like it may actually work.
c1 is quite close with all the c grade sides of division 1 teams meeting each other (except henley in div 7 & uni's e grade in it), c2 seems also quite close with c grade sides of div 2 meeting each other and c3 etc.
I'm assuming that the grand finalists of c2 will go up to c1 as will c3 into c2.

Do you not think Uni's will be relegated instead of Henley?

I would say the loser the next time Henley play Uni will be the team most likely to be relegated.

Yeah I know exactly what you are talking about Demon heard it all before last year. What gets me though is why they get their smallest player and probably luckiest A grader to be their spokesman. Don't quite understand that...

pleasantly surprised by the level of sportmanship shown by the coaches of tea tree gully and modbury in c6 and broadview in c1 - they've came in after games to congratulate the umpires on a job well done and talk to the players as well. Also, the coach of salisbury north c1 taking off players going the cheap shots - certainly 10 years ago their coach was advocating such tactics.
reaffirms my belief that the amateur league is right in its position on spectator and player behaviour and many kudos to most of the clubs who are right behind the code.
