poms in tatters

Postby bayman » Fri Jan 26, 2007 6:49 pm

the poms obviously have gone from bad to worse & beyond but i can not understand why on wednesday that only the fringe players trained at the nets it was noted that while australia had a day off that hussey (inform batsman) came down & had a net for well over an hour

also mt79 asked one of the english batsmen if they were hitting the pubs tonight the answer staggered me it was yes as i think before you do any partying get your act right on the ground first
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

110 all out with 16 overs or so to spare. Pitiful.

I'm just surprised the Aussies took 25 overs to get the runs themselves.

ABC Commentary said that whatever the Poms were being paid it was too much!

A few comments on your post yabman.

1. Hussey is a freak. He even trains in his sleep. They don't call him Mr Cricket for nothing. Yeah, the Poms are poo but it's a bit harsh calling someone slack because they can't keep up with Hussey's workrate.

2. Why not get on the turps? You might as well get something right on tour. If it mends morale it could be a positive move.

3. The fringe players trained in the nets cos that's what they do, the regular players are hardly going to have a net on a day off when they have had so many injuries and 'freak outs' on this tour. Players such as Strauss, Bell and Flintoff have played a lot of cricket on this tour. England simply don't have the luxury of using our much debated 'rotation system'.

4. There's no real surprise that the Poms are in tatters, they are the number eight ranked nation at one day cricket and are without KP, Micheal Vaughan, Steve Harmison, Marcus Trescothick and Ian Botham ha ha. If you have a lowly ranked side that is understrength playing against a side that has won the last two world cups then it is going to get ugly......................it did.

5. These clowns can't wait to get home and it shows.

What I don't understand is they sent bowlers like Hoggard and Harmison home, and replaced them with players who don't bowl anywhere near as well, and can't bat or field any better either.

Harmy retired from one dayers and Hoggard might have been under an injury cloud (can't bat but least he can bowl). Surely young Cook is ahead of Loye in every department?
