The result tho probably says more about how poor England are rather than how good the Windies were.
That was my question initially. Whilst the West Indies look ok, no really stars our there, just ok. England on the other had are hard to read.

Clearly Stokes, Anderson and Archer are there stars, fee others made handy runs, but at the end of the day tbeybwere our played by a team that is just ok and in all honesty been pretty average for a while.
The Windies record against England whilst being an average side for awhile is a positive one for them now.

Can't help but think if Broad had played instead of Wood the result could have been different.

The second test between England and West Indies in Manchester starts today/tonight.

Jofra Archer will miss the match after breaching Bio-security protocols. The nature of his breach is not known.

Originally England had Archer, Broad, Curran, Woakes and new comer Ollie Robinson to pick from to fill their fast bowling spots while Anderson and Wood were set to be 'rested'.

After a delayed start Jason Holder won the toss and sent England in.
Chase comes on and traps Burns LBW just on the stroke of lunch. England 1/29, Burns out for 15.

West Indies are unchanged while Root is back at the expense of Denly meanwhile Anderson, Archer and Wood are all out and replacing them are Broad, Curran and Woakes.

Sibley is very cook like but has been effective so far in the start of his career. Not sure why we haven't picked Dan Lawrence yet he seems to be a genuinely talented lad in good form. Rather humorous we probably needed Wood and Archer for this pitch Rather then the first test where Broad and woakes would have been suited.

Sibley should go on and make 100 today, very much got his own style and yeah a bit Cook like as he looks to bat time, surely the selectors will stick with him and Burns at the top now. From what I've read Lawrence is the next cab off the rank in terms of batting ranks.

The fast bowler selections have been comical adding in Archer's breaches. It obviously remains to be seen how the bowlers playing in this match go but I'm especially looking forward to seeing how Broad goes.

Shane Dowrich CM, I noticed he was a bit sloppy when I watched day one's extended highlights but in his defence his life wasn't made easy by Gabriel who was spraying them all over the place at times as he struggled a bit to get his line right.

Fair point the one that went to second slip was case in point...

That's the second time Gabriel has bowled it into second slips hands!

If we are that Garbage why couldn't you beat us last year? We are far from a great side but garbage is just ridiculous. We would lose comfortably here in Aus no doubt but to say any side with Stokes, Root and Broad in it is Garbage is absoloute nonsense.

You just got beaten by the Windies.
3 guns, a couple of decent cricketers and the rest are plodders that’s wouldn’t get a Sheffield shield game. Would be 5-0 in Australia and lucky if any got past day 4

We also just pumped South Africa and haven't lost a series at home since 2014. Windies aren't awful at the minute either. Why would be worse then our last tour to Australia when our best player didn't play then? Plus Archer and Wood are big upgrades over bloody Tom Curran.

Good point, although it's hard to win an Ashes series when you're playing with ten, especially when the passenger is your captain.

First hot day in Australia and Archer would go missing, soft as butter
