Always intrigued by the "spirit of cricket". If it's within the Laws of cricket, how can it be against the spirit of the game? What's worse from a spirit of cricket perspective ....
1. Silk retiring hurt
2. Ponting taking off his pads for the last ball, when he was at the non strikers end
3. A bowler mankading a batsman
All are within the Laws

I'm fine with mankad, I think it's cheating when the non-striker leaves the crease early.

I continue to be amazed at folks who otherwise clearly know their cricket, having any issue whatsoever with mankadding, let alone thinking that it violates the spirit of cricket.

By definition, the incident last night and Punter throwing his pads away are way worse (and I'm not saying I necessarily have a problem with them).

Lay of punter. He wouldn't have had time to take all his pads off if the fielding side didn't take over 2 minutes to set the field and decide what ball to bowl!

100%

I would have no problem mankading and nearly did on one occasion....in fairness to me though I was concerned for him. I was bowling left arm over to a right hand batsmen aiming for a stump outside the off peg...….the batsmen was that far up the crease I swear I was going to bowl the ball into the back of his head at times..

You're a better man than me then, I would've purposely aimed for the top of the shoulder or hip bone, I should imagine getting hit in either of them places unsuspected would ting a bit.

So the retired hurt rule has been happening for 3 centuries now

So what happened tonight with Silk is a legitimate law of cricket , you can retire hurt with an injury as Silk had
That the SS coach made him retire hurt ends up being a brilliant tactic, within the laws of cricket

Bannerman didn't walk out there injured, therein lies the difference. The Sixers took the piss and watch them piss and moan to get Smudge into their side for the finals. **** teeball.

Hi young Redleg
Jordan Silk started the game without a hamstring injury
If he plays in the final Friday night and does the same, then i can agree with you

Happy Australia day to you and your WYC mate Booney

I'm fine with it too, in fact, I'm disappointed Harry Conway didn't try it on the last ball. I'm sure the non striker would have been cribbing.

Unless someone was to tell him as he was running in as I don't think he'd be able to think of that himself, nor remember if someone told him at the start of his run up.

He did come into the game with an injury. He missed the last couple with a "hamstring" which usually take 3 weeks to heal minimum.

He didn't field for a large portion of the Strikers batting innings.

No, I did hear the commentators saying something about it though.

It looks like Stephen O'Keefe will play in the BB GF tonight. What's the bet he completes his 4 overs and is replaced by a sub fielder.

Silk ruled out, O'Keefe and Henriques playing at this stage and Hughes has a fitness test. Assistant coach Lenton will keep again.
Steve Smiths third request to make him available was knocked back.

Might have gone a bit too early

Scorchers have plenty of runs to win this game, best defensive bowling line up in the comp.
