AU 4-1 IN AUSTRALIA
EITHER TEAM 3-2 IN ENGLAND [but probably 2-2 as rain might draw off one of the tests]

Quite simply where the series is played largely determines the result and often irrespective of the line ups.

5 results in England come on mal what are you smoking? 2-1 Poms.j Poms can't bat but neither can we. Without the burden of Root's relentlessly defensive captaincy we get done over there. We will have too many blokes who can't play the swinging ball and they won't need too many runs to win the series. They also won't need a gun spinner which is good for them as they don't have one.

The first test between England and South Africa at Lords starts tonight.

England have already named their team for the match-
1 Zak Crawley, 2 Alex Lees, 3 Ollie Pope, 4 Joe Root, 5 Jonny Bairstow, 6 Ben Stokes (capt.), 7 Ben Foakes, 8 Stuart Broad, 9 Jack Leach, 10 Matthew Potts, 11 James Anderson

SA quick Duanne Olivier will miss the series due to injury and Rabada is under an injury cloud.

4/56 now, Bairstow bowled by Nortje for a duck, I missed the dismissal.

SA all over England in this first session, great to see Rabada, Ngidi, Jansen and Nortje all bowling together. Its a longer tail for SA with the five bowlers but we'll eventually see if that's a factor.

Sadly I don't think South Africa will make 150 with the bat so the quicks have to roll them for 120.

He's 33. What do you want, a Jimmy Anderson job? Internaitional cricket is not dead in the water but the fifty over format is an endangered species. As for Warner he is pretty cooked as a batsman I reckon. His concentration levels are nowhere near what they were which is only natural for blokes who have been up the top as long as he has. He will be a walking wicket for Broad once again in 2023.

Absolute corker that delivery. Bairstow wasn't in the same suburb and he's been seeing them like beach balls all year. Cracker!

Sorry REB but you're obviously in London right now? Hopefully the weather is better for you in the coming four days.

I read that it's been the driest summer in England since 1935 but of course it rains when a cricket match begins! I can't remember where I heard/read it but it was said in the media that if you want it to rain in England in summer all they have to do is organise a cricket match and it will the rain during that match!

thats why he missed it, he thought he was hitting a beach ball and not a small cricket ball, jokes aside though, it was a peach of a delievery, loved the way Bairstow heard the rattle, put the bat under his arm and just walked off, too good a ball sir
