Zimbabwe Vs SFricans

Zimbabwe won the toss and bowled

Early on day 2

SFricans 4/512
Mulder 295*
Brevis 30*
Bedingham 82
Lhuan-dre Pretorius 78

Appeared to be a good toss to win when the Sfricans were 2/24

Had as much right to break it as Hayden did when he made 380 against Zimbawbwe in 2003

Agree tho it seems right that Lara holds the Record but it will be bettered in time that's for sure simply because of some of the scoring rates these days compared to the past will enable someone to do it. In reality Mulder could've gone on and possibly made 500 and SA would still have have won the Test in 4 days.
Would be interesting to know his thoughts why he pulled the pin on 367* ?

At least Hayden was an elite cricketer and one of the best bats of his era
This Mulder bloke averages 25 over his whole career

Only guessing but he would probably feel a tad embarrasedd taking the record especially against Zimbabwe.

Love what he has done. Sure, if it was against a genuine test side eat your heart out and smash the record but we dont need another Archie Thompson record around in sports

Nice. Lots of respect for that.

As i said, i don't think it's a record that should never be beaten but just has to be two genuine test nations to hold any credibility.

Wiaan Mulder on declaring

"I thought we had enough and we need to bowl. Secondly, Brian Lara is a legend let's be real. He got 401, or whatever it was, against England

For someone of that stature to keep that record is pretty special. I think if I get the chance again, I would probably do the same thing

Speaking to Shuks, he kinda said to me as well: 'Listen, let the legends keep the really big scores'

You never know what's my fate, or what is destined for me, but I think Brian Lara keeping that record is exactly the way it should be"
