And Australias performances at the Olympics where we can can consitantly outperform countries like Germany, France, Spain, Brazil, the UK, Canada etc in terms of medals. On a per head of population we out perform China, Russia and the US.

Success at the elite sport level is not based purely on popualtion (it is an important factor I'll grant you) but it can be overcome with good development programs, effective underpinning competitions (were SA is lacking IMO), good coaching, good admin, good talent ID and good support services.

Australia has the best high performacne sport models in the world no excuse for not getting the structures and frameworks in place to correct those.

I was just making the point that we would have less natural talent coming through than other states. All the other factors you mention obviously contribute to success, but by having less talent to choose from, it makes it harder for us to be competitive assuming those other factors are similar between the states (which I suspect they are). Tasmania has always had a high proportion of imported players, which has helped them to be competitive.

We will not compromise the SANFL competition (with AFL reserves teams)."
