Perhaps the same will happen when Murali passes 708 wickets.

It seems those * were justified.

Evidence has apparently surfaced in the US today that he lied in court about drugs. It's the same enquiry Marion Jones was involved in. If found guilty of perjury - Bonds faces 23 months jail.

While Murali will have a question mark over his career, at least it won't be of the type Bonds will have.

True enough mate. In 50 years time, a kid will pick up the records and their won't be a * next to Murali at all, it will have him with 1000+ test wickets.

Bonds on the other hand has (apparently, at least) deliberately cheated and will likely not be in the record books at all.

The law was different then, had to be less than 10 degrees at that time (maybe even less, can't recall exactly).

Formally the rule was a straight out 0 degrees. You are totally correct in saying the actions of the 2 umpires were justified. In a lab test with a deliberate effort (nothing like the 25th over in a row in the heat ) he still just scraped in using the 15 deg rule . The 15 deg rule is a cop out by the ICC and stops any umpire ever no-balling anyone in a game ever again.Surely it is easier to detect a bend outright instead of trying to work out angles of bend .It is one of crickets greatest losses that Murali had 200 test wickets before someone had the guts to question his action through the proper channels .The ICC afraid of the race arguement bowed to pressure and did nothing and then years later changed the rules to avoid embarrassment over their non-action earlier .Only those out of the game can speak up (one of the few things i give KG credit for) without it looking like sour grapes. In 10 years time in books and interviews the guys who have played with and against Murali will all address the issue and I am sure it will be very interesting reading.Everyone has lost on this issue I believe even Murali with the constant pressure and speculation that follows him.I think the whole issue is a dreadful shame.

and this is why it is the duty of all those who have been witness to Shane Warne to ensure that future generations understand he is the best of all time despite Murali's stats.

Murali wont take 1000 test wickets. He will retire before then because in a few years time the technology will be there to test actions during matches. Im pretty sure he wont want to be apart of that.

But heres to shane warne, the best spin bowler.
