And with Taity off the scene also, I'm going to struggle to find a player in their squad that excites me enough to go along and watch them in the next year or two.

JJ, I don't think there will be any South Aussies in the team for the next couple of years.
We've lost Lehmann, Blewett, Gillespie, Elliott, presumably Tait, Adcock is gone and Cossie is going to have to get dropped for 'form' (batting or body) at some point.
Apparently district levels are pretty thin on the ground for players to come into the squad.
So there's a few to replace right there.
SACA's got some money to spend, so they'll buy out a heap of players and there'll be no SA players in the side, remembering that Christanson has already been dragged from NSW.

Ahhh that's a pessimistic view anyway.

The most successful international player from SA of his generation. For a fair while he was one of the best fast bowlers in the world. Also managed to overcome many injuries early in his career and has kept his body in good enough shape to have a lengthy career, which most wouldn't have expected. It would have been more likely his first class career ended with an ACL rather than the ICL.

At his peak (2000-2003) especially around 2001 he was the best pace bowler in world cricket.He was quick,swung the ball and acurate.My favorite moment of his was how he absolutly fooled Sachin Tendulkar in the group stages at the 2003 world cup with one of the best slower balls I have ever witnessed.Absolute gun
Also in 50 years time at every quiz show there will be that famous question. "Which Australian cricketer was dropped and never played a test for Australia again after scoring 200+ not out?"

Up untill 2003 he had a test bowling average of between 20-22.I agree he was never better than McGrath,but at his peak IMO I rate him just as good.All though McGrath and warne helped out by holding batting line ups down and frustrating batsmen.

SA can't afford these losses - another SA Legend gone. And the last of the team that won the 95/96 Shield gone.

I don't know what his plans are, but it would be handy to the team if he could stay on in a coaching role - teach the players patience and discipline.

he also happens to be dizzy's manager and they asked him why he pulled out.
his reply was you have to ask dizzy that and i'm believed he will have a comment to make next week on his future

Well im slighty worried now about the redbacks chances of making more than 150 runs in any game next season. With Lehman and now dizz gone thats a fair porton from out run making power over the years.

Anyway great carrier I Dizz. Fantastic cricketer, always showed plenty of heart and soul when he played.

Now well where to from here. Cleary will make his way into the side without a doubt.

Can't read anywhere in this thread where someone posted that Dizzy was better than McGrath?

A better example of bias would be coming on a Gillespie retirement thread and saying "good career champ, but McGrath crapped all over you anyway".

On the other hand though, if we were talking about batting prowess, it would be a completely different matter!
