I reckon the Poms batting is very brittle so 169 did not surprise me.
Thier strength is thier bowling.
Harmison, Flintoff,Anderson + Mahmood will be a handfull.
But Aussies for mine by 5 wickets.

Watson 3/16 ripped the top order apart and sconned Flintoff as well.
What a talent
With Mcgrath and Warney slowing down and the need for Lee to be
used in short bursts means it is essential a 5th bowler is needed.
Symonds has been tried and I wish he would succeed, but maybe
Watson is the man.
If he can average about 30 with the bat and about 35 with the ball
that would be enough, I get the feeling he may do better.
If he stays fit he is the answer.
If not maybe Maddog Mike and Dutchy will be given a go.

AUST 1/30 Gilly cleaned up around the wicket again by Mahmood[not Flintoff]
Watson still there.

AUST 2/34 Cyclone Mahmood has Ponting caught at slip[seen that before as well]
Watson still there.

AUST 3/34 Watson bowled Anderson for 21
Watson not there.

Ponting putting the poms in......
Sides batting 2nd keep losing.....

EASY WIN IN THE END 4/170
Martyn a brilliant 78 of 91 balls[50 off about 35 balls]
Hussey a rock like 30 odd.

England can take some positives with Mahmood + Anderson bowling well.
They can take heart that some Australian batsmen were exploited again.
Gilchrist out around the wicket AGAIN
Ponting snicking a full length ball to slip AGAIN
Martyn fending off a short pitched delivery behind thewicket AGAIN
Watson bowled cross batting across the line once AGAIN[new weakness?]

The ashes looks like lower scores being the norm.
The difference will be Shane Keith Warne AGAIN

Hell wasn't Martyn timing them well yesterday?? he looks in good nick ATM so should get a gong for brisbane as he is in good form.

Allbe it on slower lower pitches than we will see at Brisbane....

I liked both Watson and Johnson, yesterday, still not convinced about the need for an allrounder but I'm warming to it after seeing yesterdays game. Watson had a great A series earlier this year with the bat so it is his obvious forte, but when you have a bloke who can send 'em down at 140 km/h that is good heat for a 2nd change bowler.....

mind you good heat just comes off the bat quicker if you cant move it around....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

The two balls from Johnson to get rid off Pieterson was a great piece of bowling. A nice short one followed up with one pitched up outside off, great stuff.
