To hot to TROTT...waste of times

Ian John Trott
Could he be the most infuriating batsman in the world, and perhaps one of worst in history ?

SHEER TROTTERATION
Watch him facing spinners
He has this almost constant habit of facing a delivery and then mainly walk backwards, sometimes forwards towards square leg
He ends up mostly at the end of the pitch, sometimes further
Several times in the SA V EG test game he overdid it as the spinners would have to wait for Trott to take guard
Trott also on other occasions would walk to an area on the pitch and garden pat it down with his bat, also halting the game

South Africa has made an inforMAL complaint about Mr Trotts habits
I cant blame Smiths mob for complaining
This is bordering on time wasting
Although Trotts time wasting may appear trivial, does the game need this ?

DHONI WANNA PLAY
Indian skipper has been suspended for games for slow over rates[almost an hour overdue]

SCREEN TEST
Another time waster is the mobile sight screens
When we have left hand/right hand batting combinations the screens are moved as the players rotate the strike
Several times the batsman have to signal to the attendant to adjust the position, holding up play
Occasionally the attendant might be slow to react , causing delays
I recall once there was a MALfunction and the screen had to be pushed to position

SUMMARY
Just some irky time wasters
Anyone else got other time wasters ?

As for Trott he is well named ....

ricky ponting end of discussion

how dhoni can get banned after ponting was 11 overs behind in adelaide is astonishing - going slow in onedayers isnt as bad as test matches as the overs tsill get bowled - in teh adelaid etest 6 overs were lost becasue of australias depolorable over rate which may have had an impact on the result

but i agree mal when the bowler is ready and the batsmen isnt he should just be able to start bowling (unless the batsmen is getting treatment)

Mal, are you basing your assessment on Trott's inning when he was trying to delay Sth Africa on the last day of the test? I agree, he was wasting time, but as the commentators said, it was astonishing that the umpires didn't do anything about it.

However, 90% of batsmen would've done the same thing in the same circumstances.

Now the Trott has set in.
Did you have to Trott out that old line mal?
That's Trott on!
He's just having a rough Trott?
Hopefully he works this out and is soon back in harness.

Reply from Trott

I've never really had any complaints before," he said. "It's one of those things, I do to get myself prepared and make sure I'm in the right frame of mind to help contribute to the England side.

"I don't play cricket to get under people's skin. I play cricket to be effective and I have my things I do to get myself ready for battle. Maybe it can mess with their over-rate or whatever, but it's just what I do and I won't be changing it.

Trott is at it again
Comes in to bat in the 2nd test v SA
Takes almost a minute to take guard b4 facing Morkel
Marks the crease and makes a mark about 3 feet long
The crowd boos

Next over takes guard for almost a minute
Steyn is kept waiting and waiting and waiting
Same marking of the crease
Same response from the crowd

And he walks between deliveries to short leg as he did last test

Meanwhile the over rate is suffering

Next innings the umpires should use common sense
Have a drinks break whilst he takes guard ....
