We're better putting the money, time and effort into someone who actually gives a sh*t. Cricket is no longer (if it ever was) a game where you could work as little as he does and have any success. Even Warnie, for all his failings, was less trouble than this guy. And even as great as he was, Warnie was chastised (no captaincy, suspension, loss of sponsorships etc). Let NSW have him. I'll happily swap any of their currently listed players for him.

I walked past him on the Saturday of the Test in the members area and in no way did he look grossly overweight. Agreed that he is not going to win a marathon in world record time but it is now up to Mark to apply himself in the 2nd XI matches and Grade cricket to post those big scores that we would all love him to get and force his way into the firsts and use that talent where it belongs at the highest level.

Mate, Cosgrove is obese by "man in the street" standards. For an elite athlete, he's a disgrace. The guy simply values a midnight feed higher than playing for South Australia, and while that continues you can forget about him.
I'm no fan of the media, but it's not just them who have the issue with Cosgrove's weight, it's the Redbacks coaching panel and selectors.

for an elite Athlete he is a disgrace? Do you know what Mark's scores are for the various fitness tests they do every pre season? I think you might be in for a bit of a surprise

Exactly right bayman, If he is making a shitload of runs thats all I care about. His loss of form is more concerning than fitness IMO

I'm just staggered that people draw no parallel between weight gain and loss of form. When he was making runs (many years ago), although he was a solid boy he was nowhere near as big as he is now. Since he came back from England three years ago, his weight has been unacceptable for a 1st class cricketer.
England is a dangerous place to go if you are a young man with a penchant for fast foods, just ask Ian Chappell and Shane Warne. The difference is, the first two players realised their weight was unacceptable and did something about it. The third person has not.
Cosgrove does not have the fitness to endure long periods at the crease, that is why he is not being selected for South Australia. Cosgrove would be a vastly improved cricketer if he introducted strict control over his diet and I cannot see how anyone can argue with that.
