For all the talk, I reckon there will be no change to the Aust line up for the first test. Hauritz the only person with worries now IMO.

Hill, about 2-3 years ago, was hyped up big time. Initially failed to deliver on that hype.

However has now returned in his new position of opener and has done very well. Still an unimpressive overall FC record, but constantly improving, and his ton against the Poms will give him plenty of confidence going forward. Still only 21/22, give him 3 years, you never know.

VIC declared at 2/216! Interesting.

Lets see how the Vics bowlers fare against Strauss and Bradman, I mean Cook.

Over 0.6: McKay to Strauss, no run, lovely delivery, pitched up and angled across just outside off, beats the bat as it drew him forward, maiden for McKay to begin with

Good start.

David Hussey said before the game about his wish to play test cricket and wanted to make a big score against the Poms. He would not be happy i think.

Why declare? Should have batted aslong as possible and kept all the poms in the field for the sake of the Aussie side. Worn out Strauss and Cook with less batting practice could have been better for the aussies. thoughts?

Agreed. Grind them into the dirt. Make them field for 2 days. Now the poms will just get batting practice for next 2 days

Outstanding declaration by White. England are trying to find out which quick out of the three playing this game will take Broads spot in Perth. They wouldn't be much clearer on that after White declared with only 2 wickets down for 200 odd. Would expect Straus to declare around tea tomorrow to give the quicks another chance to press their claim for the final spot. This will also give White and Hussey another oppurtunity to score runs. Lets not forget that the Test side was picked Thursday night, so even if Hussey scored a mammoth score it would of been to no avail for the Perth test.

Good to see Paul Collingwood take 3 wickets today though, not really helping to clear up the issue of the other quick for Perth though.

Interesting scenario, England trail by about 310 and still have 4 wickets to take, I think its heading for a draw, although any result is still quite possible really.
