Disagree on the timing... He is not ready yet... Steven Smith syndrome...

Agree with you on Marsh, absolute star of the future but isn't ready just yet.
But with Smith, what's happened to him? It's like he's fallen of the face of the earth or something, they were going on about him and how great he was a while back and now, nothing, haven't heard a peep.

Ive been impressed with Smith this season at shield level. Has worked really hard on his batting and is batting in the top 4.

Fair enough. The media aren't going on about him as much as they did then.

To be honest I think his time is up now, Wade looks ready to go, offers plenty with bat and his glove work is steady.

Despite the lack of big scores, at least his technique is sound and unlike practically every other cricketer in Australia at the moment, he isn't 35 or held together with duct tape. I believe his big problem at this stage is a lack of confidence which is why he isn't as agressive with his running between wickets or as positive in attack or looking for more ones when the scoring dries up. And I don't reckon dropping him is going to correct that. Once he gets a good knock and a run of tests I believe he'll make it.

What I can't handle with the Khawaja commentary is it seems to be held on the grounds he's destined for a long Test career. Where is the evidence for that? He shouldn't be getting more leniency than the other guys on the fringe just because he has a good technique (who cares what technique is like if you (a) can't score runs and (b) get out relatively cheaply all the time?) or because he's been anointed some sort of 'chosen one'.
He's played 6 Tests now and only has an average of 29 and FWIW his FC average is 45, we're not talking about some sort of freakish talent here.
