And that's a pretty small sample size to look at when you consider our performances over the last 20 years ( since we on it ).

Since '95/96 we've made 1 final ( last year ) not been 2nd, 3 times 3rd, 4 times 4th, twice fifth and 10 times, yes 10 times dead last in the last 20 years! Stick your "didn't we finish top last year". We've been consistently shit.

We finished last the year before last, so went bottom to top.

Not that it's the case in this instance but what would you prefer?
A: A flag every 5 years but finishing 4, 5 or 6 in between.
B: A flag every 10 years but being around the top 4 most seasons.
C: A flag every 15 years and making the final on a regular basis.

A- Every day of the week.
you've gota keep on keep'n on .........

Wonder what the ladder for average second innings totals is over that same period of time.

Will Will Somerville play Test cricket ?
At 32 years of age, probably not
In his first 3 Shield innings his bowling figures were 0/150, but is head ing in the right direction since his first wicket in his 4th innings of Shield bowling
He has now played 12 FC matches and has, 46/1110, at an average of 24.13
If he dosent play Test cricket, he could play a stunt actor for Hugh Jackman with a beard

I vaguely recall he is a Kiwi, might be wrong though. Not sure if he is then qualified to play for us

He's lived in Australia since 2008ish hasn't he? Provided he's got a passport from Canberra, Kevin Pieterson had to wait 4 years to play for England....

Sam Raphael and Jake Weatherald both playing in the Futures League game this week. Just need a hit? Or should we read something into it re selection?

Shield game vs Qld starts Saturday.

Apparently it was a "bat off" between them, but you would think now they will go with the same six and give them one more chance.

"SEXIST male-centric cricket terms such as “batsman”, “fieldsman”, “12th man” and “nightwatchman” should be dropped from the sporting vernacular to foster more equality in the game" -Christina Matthews WACA CEO.

How pathetic!

nothing stopping them from using batters and fielders when talking in a female context. Or even in a male context. But telling people what they should and shouldnt say is ridiculous

Stuff like that actually hurts the cause for equality imo. As far as i am aware, Nobody is suggesting that we have to use batsman even when talking about women. And its pretty clear it comes from a male-centric place. But telling people what they should and shouldnt say isn't really productive.

Does she realise that's actually the gender neutral way of saying all those things? (According to Oxford at least)

How's it meant to work? 12th person? Nightwatchperson?
