Played in Wagga
SOK and Lyon were bowling in tandem in at the 5th over of the Vics first innings.
SOK and Lyon took 15 of the Vics 20 wickets!

The death penalty can never be excused as it allows a state a means by which it can pick and choose who is fit to live and who isnt

Id be interested to see the Redbacks lowest totals in the past 3 seasons compared to the other states. Seems like alot of sides being bwoled out for under 200.

Victoria at this stage will be playing their last 3 games at away venues ?
25/2 v QLD in Alice Springs
5/3 v SA at Glenelg Oval
13/3 v TA ?

They play SA again for the 2nd time this season in Adelaide in March
The reason being, they could not secure a venue in their home state?
Is it true they enquired about playing in other Victorian venues, but other venue representations declined ?

No alternative ground was deemed suitable nor could they get the required standard in time. Must have really let the Junction Oval go as Victoria played a Shield final there when the MCG was unusable due to renovations for the Commonwealth Games.

Do find it hard to believe that there isnt a suitable ground in all of Melbourne. Some of the grade clubs have ripping facilities, perhaps they didn't want to hand over their ground to the state side. Same as NSW, played in Wagga last week and currently playing in Newcastle

Could be a political move too. Junction Oval was the subject of state election promises to develop it into a facility for cricket with talk of Saint Kilda moving back to Junction as well. However, I think the Saints have backed away from the proposal.

Another century for Peter Nevill, came in with NSW in strife at 4/81 and was dismissed with the score on 340.
Has now made close to 700 runs for the season and averaging just under 100.
Not bad for a keeper batting at number 6

VICS win outright inside 3 days against Tassie in Alice, will now host the final.
Will probably play WA unless NSW pull off a miracle

A legal battle is looming over who has the right to decide where the Sheffield Shield cricket final will be held.

The Victoria Bushrangers finished on top on the table and would normally have the right to host the final which they will likely play against the Western Warriors.

But due to World Cup Cricket commitments, the Bushrangers' preferred site of Junction Oval is not available and they want to host the final at Bellerive Oval in Tasmania.

Western Australian Cricket Association CEO Christina Matthews said she was seeking legal advice as the rules clearly state that was not allowed.

"If Victoria can't provide a ground in their home state, the rules state the opposing team is offered the opportunity to nominate a ground in their state," she said.

"And that's what we plan on pursuing with Cricket Australia. It should be played in Western Australia at the WACA.

It is the furthest ground possible from where we are and as we're aware doesn't have any accommodation of flights available for our whole team to go on as one.

"We'll be seeking legal advice on the rule as it stands in the Cricket Australia playing conditions handbook and we'll be talking to Cricket Australia about our legal advice.

"At the moment, the view of Cricket Australia and Victoria is we didn't earn the right to host and therefore we shouldn't have that right, but in our view the rule is very clear."

Ms Matthews said she was told as late as Thursday afternoon the final would be played at Junction Oval and the Warriors did not have a problem with that.

"However, we do have a problem with it being taken to a ground that has nothing to do with Victoria," she said.

"It is the furthest ground possible from where we are and, as we're aware, doesn't have any accommodation of flights available for our whole team to go on as one.

"Our view is that if Victoria can't find a suitable ground in its home state it should be played in Western Australia at the WACA."
PAFC. Forever.
