You guys in the grade cricket know, is there anyone bashing the door down with runs? and/or know how to be patient and build
an innings?

Only one untried at First Class level and in the top 5 First Grade stats is Pat Page, 755 runs @ 62.92.

Unlike other states for some reason it's very rare any of our cricketers have immediate success at shield level Winters not included obviously

Yep Captain/Assistant Coach of Adelaide. 724 runs @ 65.82. Won't play First Class cricket again. Gone 30 years old and back into the 9 to 5 workforce again.

And Page is playing down in Tassie at the moment in Second X1 game and made a pair!! Lasted four balls in first dig and three in the second.

SACA High Performance don't rate runs/wickets in Grade comp, they are only interested in the Futures League (Second X1) matches. No batter has really stood out in that comp to knock down the door, only McInerney last match.

Ahmed's last couple of overs were magnificent. The last 3 dismissals were all classic leg spinner's dismissals. A caught behind from a hugely spinning leg break, a wrong'un that the batsman didn't pick, let go and allowed to cannon into his stumps and another viciously turning leggie that led to Nevill trying a death or glory shot which ended in him being comprehensively stumped.

I heard Michael Clarke say that he is the second best spinner in the country. On today's display Clarke could be right.

And yes Ahmeds last 3 dismissals were from exceptional deliveries

Hasn’t been a result at the MCG in any longer format game this season.

Have to remember SA's population is a lot smaller than other states, they filter out plenty before they even reach the high performance squads, and they have a larger scope of players in these squads, so once they finally crack through for a first class game generally they've reached the top of the class and ready to fire.

Also population is a factor in why New South Wales have produced so many Test cricketers and why they have won the most Sheffield Shields
That was especially so when Test players were able to play X amount of games in the Sheffield Shield competition
Imagine the current New South Wales team if they had Warner, Smith , Hazelwood, Starc, Cummins , Lyon playing more often

You have to take into consideration that we've made two GF's in succession whilst in a re-building/blooding phase, fair effort IMO.

The new points system encourages fast, aggressive cricket which has played into our hands - sides now need to press for outright results and score at a good clip, gone are the days of batting 4 days for a million runs and taking the 1st innings points or draw.

I agree, think would be good if ACT (NSW Country) got a proper side sorted, I think the depth would be there, and they wouldn't lose players as much to other states e.g. Nick Winter, Jono Dean

Bit of a cop out when Tasmania with a third of our population has made 6 finals and won 3 Shields since our last title

They just had a good period for a while there with some stability where guys couldn't break into the Australian side, or where in and out.

Off the top of my head guys like Cox, Divenuto, Bevan, Cosgrove, Cowan, Hilfenhaus, Doherty, Ponting, Silk., Bailey around those years?

Also they've managed to pick up guys from interstate who have added value - Michael Bevan, Mark Cosgrove, Jordan Silk.

The current side now, Doran (NSW), Silk (NSW), McDermott (QLD), Milenko (QLD), Rogers (ACT), Boyce (QLD), Fekete (VIC), Bird (NSW), Wade (VIC) - so shows they top up with fringe players from elsewhere better than most, and have less home grown talent (granted Wade originally started at TAS though, but cut his teeth in VIC).
