Like I said before, why was he selected for this match?

Yep, he sure is a dud. Wait for his fans to come on here an recount his 100 against Sri Lanka as a reason he should be playing. Well that was one innings and it was a while ago now. What else has he done?

Has made as many runs as Younis Hahn for about a 1/10th of the cost i would think.

Seriously, are the Recruitment Team at SACA just unlucky with their NON-Performing BIG name recruits over the years or have they just NFI of what type of player to get?
Their last decent recruit was probably back when they got our own Boof Lehmann back from the Vics.

Younis Khan:
2 matches 4 innings 99 runs Ave. 33.00 HS 71*

Tom Plant:
3 matches 6 innings 75 runs Ave. 12.5 HS 48

Plant also has easily the worst strike rate of any cricketer in first class cricket this year at 25.33 runs per hundred balls. Only one other player has a strike rate of less than 35 and very very few are even below 40.

I think we can defend 225 but anything less than that will be a huge ask. With the tail we have these two would want to get the majority of those runs i would think.

He's averaged 47.5 for this game, the top 6 all do that there's 285 at least.

Must agree with AH regarding some posts on here....

The problem is he is bound to have an innings or two where he makes a low score. This will drop his average dramatically. Obviously you can't expect a player to make a hundred each time they get a start but even occasionly would be nice. Ferguson gets so many starts but just doesn't go on unfortunately. You need one or two guys to get big scores each game and unfortunately all SA have is guys who gets starts then get out.

Agree entirely, however to call for Fergs to go for Cossie based on this year or this game is ludicrous. Others would be in more trouble, would you agree?

Totally agree. There is no way Ferguson should be dropped. Cosgrove should come in though. Plant out for starters and Manou isn't a number 6. Bring in Borgas.

Yes.

I think the line-up for the next SS game will (hopefully) be in batting order:

Harris
Klinger
Khan
Cosgrove
Ferguson
Manou
O'Brien
Cleary
Tait
Wise
George

I know I agree, fregy deserves to keep his spot, just so frustrating!!!!!
i just feel there must be a spot for Cossie.

excellent point on his average, without hundreds, will average 30-35. Ouch.

For now, yes.

Tait needs Wise, George and Cleary as support and O'Brien has earned his place. Unless you'd prefer to drop Manou for Borgas and have him keep wicket?

I'd say we need to actually make some competitive scores otherwise it doesn't matter how many bowlers we have. Manou is not good enough to be in the top 6 and is just putting too much pressure on himself. We don't need 4 quicks and a spinner if we only make 200 - 250 each game. Drop either Wise or George and bring in Borgas. Plant also out for Cosgrove.

Nah I guess Manou stays but surely we have some other keeper in this state who can bat better than he does?
