I'm finding a certain amount of humour out of all these blokes getting so close to hundreds and not crossing the line.

Had a net session this morning, and based on that session he'll decide if he's in a better position to bat than the next bloke in, so he said this morning.

So probably come in further down the order I guess.

So how does retiring hurt affect your batting average if for instance you were fit to come back on but your side declares before you do? Is it the same setup as actually being dimissed?

They showed Punter in the nets early and he wasn't dragging the hand away after his shots. Good sign.

im thinking he'll come in after Haddin so that the bowlers can keep fresh and hopefully they wont need to bat at all. eg 6/660 dec and WI 1/5 by stumps

For all the talk about the amount of class we have lost in the past few years, there is still a pretty decent set of players out there. Haddin, North, Watson and Clarke are very good cricketers who would walk into most sides in the world. You can chuck in up and comers like Khawaja and Hughes, two kids who will have long test careers. We also have a few younger quicks going around on the domestic scene with some real talent; if this is our lowest ebb right now we're pretty well set really, just got to make sure our state sides do their job in adequately developing the likes of Hazlewood, George, McKay, Starc etc.
