The commentator made a good point about Travis being predominantly a short pitch player….his not going to get those easy run scoring shots he would get on the bouncy Aussie pitches.

Could explain his average of 49 at home and only 26 away from Aus.

On the other hand someone like Green seems to be solid all around the wicket and maybe better suited to overseas conditions…….watch him get out now.

Kayo just started working on my Mac

Id bat for as long as possible ..4 day turn around to next test

Fingers cross we win the toss

Also, we have had no lead up games so good batting practice

Nauman Ali is listed as 35 years old, younger than Azhar Ali who is 37. Nauman looks like he's in his 40s.
Sajid Khan listed as 28, I don't believe he's younger than Mohammed Rizwan who is 29 which I believe. Sajid looks mid 30s at least.

Whilst I agree how long would we expect day 5 to go for before being called off we are still batting after lunch.

Actually think Carey might go okay on the spinning pitches.

Carey loves a reverse sweep which makes me nervous.

Yep I haven't trusted any of the ages given for the Pakistanis for a long time.

Finished the day 7/449 (27 runs behind)

We batted pretty well but failed to have anyone go on and make that real big hundred that could have set us up for a final day crack.

Labuschagne proving his a man for all conditions....what a gun.

Smith enjoyed not having to worry about the short ball and will be disappointed he didn't capitalise.

Green threw away a 50 but shows that he has a real solid foundation to be successful on different types of pitches.

Head is the enigma of the aussie team, brilliant at his best, frustrating at his worst. Typical Head delivery. Was great in Australia but really needs to perform overseas to ensure his spot never comes under threat.

Carey...…...dropped the only chance he had with the gloves, failed again with the bat.....interesting as well the commentators made mention numerous times that his the 'quietest' keeper they have heard since the stump mics were introduced. Still not sold his a test cricketer and time is running out for him.

Khawaja and Warner both batted well and looked comfortable. To win this series we need one of them going on to score the 150+ if they get those kind of starts.

Whats the plan for day 5.

Now that we cant really grind their bowlers into the ground I would come out...bat super aggressive see if we can sneak a lead of 50 or something. Definitely not bat beyond lunch. Then have a crack with the ball and see what happens.

What is going to be interesting is how the pitch is reviewed by the ICC.
MCG got a shock a couple of seasons ago and to me this isnt a test standard pitch.
Only my opinion but crickey leave some grass on the next venue so the ball comes on.
So many edges didn't carry......boring cricket!

That MCG pitch was only slightly worse than this one IMO.

Agree that a flat wicket makes for boring cricket.

I seem to recall that pitches in our last two UAE tours were flat as well. I think they produced results - possibly due to the Australians playing get-out shots - but I just had a feeling that this one would give the bowlers nothing as well.
