3rd dead Test Match, Aust v SAf @ SCG

First Class Cricket Talk (International and State)

Quite a decent day for Australia yesterday. If our top order make some runs at some stage we'll be set. Still plenty of good bats getting around in state cricket too (Klinger, Hughes, D. Hussey, Hodge, Rogers).

The bowling attack still worries me though. I'm not sure McDonald is going to be a dangerous bowler from what I've seen from him in state cricket. He would have to survive as a batting all rounder. Siddle needs to learn how to vary his pace a little and swing or seam the ball. Hauritz is a pie chucker, and we should be playing Krejza every time. The guy took 12 wickets or whatever it was in his first test and his second test was in Perth, where you surely wouldn't expect much from him. He turns the ball and attacks. Also, Hilfenhaus has got to fit in there somewhere I believe.
Don't be scared. Now is not the time!

De Villiers gone, BRILLIANT run out from Johnson.

3(4)/161

And Duminy was gone LBW there but Bowden fails to make the call, perhaps thinking that there was some bat in it; yet Ponting caught it anyway.

EDIT: McDonald gets some reverse swing and strikes, Amla gone LBW.

4(5)/166

Debut wicket for Ronald McDonald.

Should have been Bollinger's.

Good morning so far from Australia. Not sure how Bowden didn't give Duminy out. The only way it wasn't LBW is if he hit it and if so Ponting caught it. Quite staggerring. Bowden is usually better than that. If it was Aleem Dar or Rudi Koertzen i could understand but not Bowden.

Yeah i'm aware he rarely give LBW's but his only reasoning to not give that would have been that he thought there was an edge in which case it was out caught. Massive blunder from Billy but these things go both ways. The LBW McDonald got was probably a bit lucky.

Cricinfo wrote:83.5 Hauritz to Boucher, no run, how did that one not dislodge the bails? Hauritz tosses it up, Boucher shuffles to clip towards midwicket, the ball sneaks back in and cannons into the base of leg stump but the bails do not come off, instead one wobbles up but falls back into place... Hauritz and Haddin cannot believe it
