Bishop wouldn't have had the best economy rate going round. There is no way does he deserves to be in the side ahead of Elliott. Siddons should definitely be in there and Nobes would have to come under consideration. Would have Sleep ahead of May as well.

I'd have May in before Sleep. Sounda wasn't exactly the quickest batsman going around, and May was certainly the better bowler.

And Don O'Connor for his fielding, and Rick Darling, and ... Oh bugger it, start up a 2nd 11 would ya? :D

Tim Nielsen would have to be in it - Phillips would only edge him out of the first team because of his batting. Adam Gilchrist has basically changed the way current teams and best all time teams are chosen.

Phillips was Australia's wicketkeeper batsman for a few years, i'd have him in before Nielsen. Flipper could open the batting, thereby allowing for either an extra batsman or bowler in the side.

Sounda's batting won an A Grade Premiership for Salisbury. It still hurts!!

I'm not saying he was a poor batsman, i'm just saying his batting wasn't superior/quick enough to get him past May who was a class bowler.

That's what I mean, Nielsen would be in CP's 2nd team because of Phillips' batting prowess.

Haysman is a good pick CP!

Who knows where he would have ended up if hadn't gone over for the ruggerand (sp?)

On potential I'd have him in - on actual results for SA I'd have to go 2nd 11 for him

1st ELEVEN

Phillips
Darling
I Chappell
Hookes
Lehmann
Siddons

2ND ELEVEN

Bishop
Elliott
Nobes
Blewett
Cosgrove
Scuderi

Don O'Conner definitely in the second 11. Used to love watching him play as a kid.
What about James Pyke for the second side?
Peter Gladigau?

I think Don O'Connor would be good as a specialist 12th man as he was such a good fielder. I'd say on batting talent he'd be more likely to make a 3rd 11.

Gladigau would certainly be a candiate for the 2nd 11.

Do we need a qualification period, or maybe have another team to include players like those that Ecky higlighted - the interstate or overseas player based on their overall one day achievements without taking their SA form into account? i.e. Andy Flower.

Spelly if you include the imports you have to look at Joel Garner and Gladstone Small which doesn't feel right IMO best all-time teams should be based on performances for that team only

Otherwise the Vics will claim Boof

Wundke took one of the best catches I have ever seen. Early 80s in the McDonalds Cup IIRC.
