No, but the words uttered by George (Hoggy) were more derogatory and offensive to Indians than those uttered by Harbahjan to Roy (Symonds). Making comments about the status of parents in India is seen as being extremely offensive. You would encourage this sort of behaviour to continue, despite knowing this cultural aspect?? The Indians were good enough to drop their charge, surely Australians are man enough to drop theirs?

The difference however is that the Indian cricket team did not want to inflame things further by continuing to press their charge. I accept that what Harbajhan said was wrong but I also believe that it goes both ways. We cannot allow Australian cricketers to use such terms either. After all, Australian cricketers have a huge reputation for using 'racism' and other derogatory language as a part of their sledging. Mark Ramprakesh gave further proof of this this week.

or another angle BDP-
When Symonds was called a monkey in India, the Aussies made a complaint.
They made it known, that to use that term on Symnonds was considered racist.
Before the start of the this tour, both captains were informed that they are required to report racist comments to the Match Referee.
Therefore the Indians had fore-warning that the monkey term towards Symonds is a racist jibe, & yet Harbajhan Singh still used it...
Still care to defend the Indians now?

At least I'm not like a politician, I've hated them ever since Ponting took over the captaincy.
Phew.
