A decade back, two work colleagues both started suffering depression/stress quite badly. (Was a very rough time @ work for all of us with a crappy employer and a very bad time for our industry/market conditions)

I was working as an assistant to both of them, one of them was at a stage where he would be all rosy/happy, when suddenly a client would call with an issue, and he would reach around and throw up in his rubbish bin from the stress of it all.

Stress can be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain, both of my mates took some time off work and obtained medical advice.

Coincidentally, we had a reunion a few weeks back, both blokes are great now, one of them has gone on to far bigger and better things, but the other one's life went off the rails, with major family issues, legal issues, and major job problems for a while. (But both seem very happy now)

Obviously not sure how "stressed" Taity is, but if he is feeling down, i hope his mates are looking out for him and he isn't too big a man to seek professional assistance.
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.

Tait has made the right decision. It would be a tough gig if your heart wasn't in it. But I feel some posters might be a little too close on this one. Tait is a good cricketer but hardly a great one at this stage of his career. I hope that one day he can regain the passion and prove me wrong.

First Nathan Ablett and now Tait. When I was growing up it would have been inconceivable for sports stars at that level to simply walk away, and they were earning diddly squat back then too. Good luck with all Taity.

Selfish attitude boys, imagine the crowds! It would be more entertaining than watching him bowl to international cricketers. Would be a fair crowd from St Johns too, how many people can you fit in one ambulance?

Life is more important than your job / sport - depression is a serious issue & challenge even tho many out there are very unsympathetic about it

If he needs time out to sort his life out then that's what he should have and good luck with the recovery Taity

I'd guess we won't see him again for at least 12 months

Good luck Taity. Have a very close friend who suffered depression, anxiety, etc. Caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain.
She got to the point that she couldn't get out of bed and look after her three kids :(
Luckily she is back on track, which is hopefully what Taity does. Have a bowl in the hills on a short run up so you don't kill too
many blokes as Andy says, and relax for a while....
The joy of being on the hill drinking beer cannot be understated

Is it hard wicket up there...could he hit the strip? Gee the thought of him with a 2 piece ball is terrifying.

two piece ball are still used in most hard wicket games due to the fact that bowlers recieve less help from the pitch in regards to sideways movement.

jeez cricket today is all about the batsmen

What about the extra bounce, turn etc. the bowlers get on hard wickets? I guess the batsmen know exactly how the ball is going to behave off the pitch though so you do have a point. I have seen guys who played a lot of cricket on hard wickets struggle to adjust to bowling good lengths on turf. What once would have been a good short ball just sits up and gets spanked on turf decks.

I have never seen a hard wicket game played with anything but a 2 piece ball .

Also a four piece doesnt last on hard wickets....when we had A Zesers playing for us he bowled in swingers from around the wicket to try and reduce the swing!!!
